New Healthy Habit Each Week

Discussion in 'Self Improvement' started by Deleted Account, Apr 29, 2018.

  1. There are some things I want to try out, so I thought maybe I would start a YouTube channel or something to keep myself motivated and accountable and try a new healthy habit each week.

Here are the ideas I have so far:

    1. 8 glasses of water daily
    2. correct amount of veggies daily
    3. exercise daily
    4. no processed sugar
    5. smoothie/juice fast
    6. cold showers
    7. daily meditation/prayer
    8. waking up early
    9. eight hours of sleep
    10. no internet (except shows with husband)
    11. daily God time
    12. writing every morning for an hour
    13. 100 crunches per day
    14. vegan for a week
    15. keto for a week
    16. raw vegan for a week

I don't know for sure if I will do all of those, but those are just some ideas I had. Anyone else have any ideas?

These are too many tasks at once. Stick to a couple and do them for at least a month before you add others. Also incorporate them in your everyday life. Like every time when you pass the kitchen you drink a glass of water.

Be more specific. Not eat right amount of veggies, eat two apples a day.

Set up a routine. E.g. a morning ritual. When you wake up you first take a cold shower. Then you meditate for 15 minutes. Then you exercise for 15 minutes. Something like that. Be specific with the when and how much.

  3. Thanks, but that's not what I'm looking for. I'm not doing any of these things all at once. I'm doing them each for a week at a time and then switching to a new one.

  4. Also, I'm not necessarily wanting to do all of these things long term. I'm just looking for things to try, new adventures to have, new experiences, and I'll see which ones I deem worth keeping in my routine.

  5. Nearing the end of the first day of my water challenge, and I'm sure I will succeed in drinking the recommended 8 glasses of water a day. This is pretty big for me, as I used to drink soooo much soda and hardly any water ever. It was tough to do, but not quite as hard as I thought it would be.

  6. Thanks for the list many of these I do, or have done in the past, I might try to make a list like this of my own.

The #11 is the most important of all in the end.

What about traveling? It helped me realize that there are bigger things in life but I guess that's not something you could do regularly tho. But I guess starting a new youtube channel will be a good enough challenge that will help in constantly thinking about posting quality content and also dicipline if you plan to post on a regular basis. I hope that becomes a reality for you. I've seen a friend of mine grow more focused and productive by being a YouTuber

I would like to weigh in and say that something us addicts do is replace addictions. This is not necessarily a bad thing if you do it consciously. I'll give an example:

I've used pmo since being a teenager and only stopped since January but I have swapped my porn addiction for swimming purposefully as I am driven to addiction and if I can be doing something positive and good for myself then everyone wins.

My message is simple, your list is a great start, use it to find something that you can replace your bad habit of pmo with that is positive. Not only will it help any urges but you will be doing good.

All the best on your journey :)
