New Fapstronaut looking for LGBT males struggling

    I everyone. At the recommendation of my priest I am joining NoFap. I am a gay male in a same sex relationship. Aside from all spiritual talk that some may agree with or not, I am in a relationship now for 9yrs. My partner was first diagnosed with health issues 7yrs ago that put a damper on sex life. Thus, my porn addiction began as embarrassed as I am over it. I, too, now have been diagnosed with some serious health issues. I am very involved in my church and despite what "Some" Born againers think, I AM devoted to Christ and serve him the best I can. Even if my partner and I could have relations again outside of health, we would not based on my spiritual convictions. I am new here and am interested in at least stopping the porn. I need to see what is realistic for me as far as abstinence. I am not opposed to the entire PMO ideal but cannot fathom an entire life never having an orgasm again, so the middle road would be nice here. Are there any other Gay or bi men that would like to support me in this struggle, despite any religious thought processes or convictions?

    Hey man... I understand your desire to defend a position from the start, but my sincere hope is you have zero need of any defence here... I have found this forum to be very accepting and open... Each story unique, each path different, all hoping for a new experience of control and better outcomes from life.
    I think you will find plenty of support, wisdom and courage here.
    Despite the catchy title 'nofap' I have found the people here much more defined by what they are for and not what they are against... In my experience they are for;
    - self control
    - self determination
    - support
    - goal setting and goal achievement
    - sharing experiences and stories
    - listening

    In a place like this neither ur sexual orientation or spirituality should have to be defended.

    Thank Man I appreciate it. Found am AP already who is heterosexual and married. Great talk already. But sometimes people other similar struggle can support in other ways that some don't relate with.

    The "middle road" is what we call "easy mode" -- no porn or porn substitutes; however, masturbation and/or sex are allowed. "Hard mode" is no porn, porn subs, masturbation, or sex. Personally, after trying hard mode for a bit, I decided to switch to easy mode a few days ago. What you choose to abstain from for now and in the future is a personal decision.

    I'm going to start hard mode and see how that works since both are my vices. I'm truly thankful for everyone bring afldult and open minded enough to discuss a topic that some men treat like adolescents

    Hi there,

    I am new here, but have been attempting nofap for the last 6 years...

    Aussie, 31, gay.... addicted, struggling.

    I have not experienced what it is like to be in a LTR like you (2 years is the best I've had) but am well aware of the unique challenges we face as gay men on this nofap journey. It is great I think that we are generally accustomed to discussing matters of sex - but often it is celebrated when one is hypersexual with prevalence of porn, grindr, scruff etc. and not generally supporting of those with sexual issues that might suggest lack of libido, performance anxiety, or even a "normal sexual appetite" that are the antithesis of the masculine ideal...

    It is good to know that there are others out there... I am always open to a chat, and in the process of getting my first intro post on my journal so be sure to check it out when its up or drop me a line any time!
