1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”

Do I love watching a beautiful female on TV? Is watching them loving the world? At what point is it for sure “Loving the world?” At the point of lust, it is 100% loving the world.

How do we fight loving the world? Always work on the habit of running from lust when you enter situations of any risk at all. But most importantly, dedicate a block of prayer to praying about lust every day. One could easily pray for 20 minutes per day:

“Father, show me which verse to use to fight my next temptation.”

Will God answer your prayer? Maybe. What? I could never be a TV preacher… no one would donate. Will God answer your prayer if you are studying verses on lust so that you are ready to go to war with lust? Quite likely.

Some people think God gets mad at us when we sin. But I have never had a verbal conversation with God so I won’t comment on that. But for fun let’s assume that we get in a real rut and God seems very far away. We pray and He seems even farther away.

This never happens when we study Bible topics in areas that we need to change. God is the Word. He is speaking to you when you read the Bible. He is leading you very directly when you study specific topics regularly with a complete dedication to change.

    The Solution

The first few times you dedicate 20 minutes to praying about quitting, pray directly over the verses about lust. Read a verse and pray about it for a minute. Read another, pray, repeat, repeat, repeat.

Does God bless us when we do this? 100% yes! Psalm One says that we are blessed when we meditate on God’s Word.

We look at how Jesus fought temptation and think… I am not Jesus, it’s not going to work so smoothly for me. You are right. He is perfect, we are not perfect. But if you keep doing it daily something great happens. He starts filling you up. You decrease, He increases. You get out of the way, and He starts showing you how to overcome.

When we establish great new habits our prayer time changes. He seems very close. We feel a special love in our lives. We want to try to do something to help others. A light begins to burn brighter and brighter. Joy starts to flow a bit. We begin to see the Answer because the Answer is now filling up our lives.

Jesus sacrificed His body on the cross for us. The absolute least we can do in return for Him is to take quitting seriously.

Satan uses the same tricks time after time to get us to fall. If you fall, consider sacrificing a few minutes to write down in a notebook exactly what led up to it. Second, tell someone here what happened and ask for tips about what to do next time in a situation like that. Third, spend some time in prayer and ask God what you should have done. Fourth, do research on what made you fall. If loneliness overwhelmed you, determine to look up verses about loneliness next time. Fifth, think and pray about which Christian trait you need to be stronger in the next time you are in a similar situation. Pray about how often you need to pray about acquiring that trait. Sixth, we always have a choice of running from sin and studying things at this site. When we choose the wrong thing… destruction happens. Write down in your notebook how you feel about the darkness and destruction and future destruction that is still coming. Consider praying: “Father help me to not overestimate the (very short-term) pleasure of lust, and help me to not underestimate the problems it always causes.”

Consider printing out this list and putting it in your notebook. Seventh, write down the answer to every question about what happened. Eighth, spend three or four days adding to your notes as you continue to pray, think and plan.

Finally, when a similar situation happens again… get out your notebook and read your prophecy about your future. Then write down your new ending.

I refuse to underestimate the negative long-term effects of lust. It is the least that I can do after what Jesus did for me!

Please share what causes you to fall.

The Bible commands loving others. But what if you are right and they are wrong? Should we not try to convince them of the truth?
Our job as Christians is to "present" the truth to others. This applies to spiritual things or just normal things in life. When people believe the opposite of what we do, we refer back to the above command. Once we have stated our case for what we believe we "allow" them to have their opinion. We show them both love and respect for their opinion.
Don't allow them to continue to try to prove their point with you if you are in complete disagreement. Don't keep trying to convince them when you are in complete disagreement. Instead continue to focus on your increase in love. Second, if you don't have a one or two-page printout with verses about love, today is a good day to do that. Jesus died for us because of His great love for us. I need to study my verses on love more. We all do. For example, we argue with someone at work, school, or at home, and get angry. One of my printed-out verses from 1st Corinthians 13 talks about how love does not get angry. I read this printout often and when I do I pray, "Father, take away my anger."
It is amazing how arguments die when no one gets mad. When one person shows respect for the other person.
Third, what if you really need to convince them of the truth? The best way to do that is to stay calm, truly listen to them, and softly explain the facts. If they insist on arguing stay quiet and pray to increase in love. This method allows you a future opening to talk to them again when they might be more open to the truth.
Fourth, satan sinks millions of people every day by getting them into disagreements. 1 John 4:16 God is love, and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him." We keep the Holy Spirit fully in us when we are the person who is the peacemaker.
But, when we escalate the fight satan gets more and more of the room. Then when the fight is over he has us about 99% exactly where he wants us. We know how that ends.
Finally, pray to have love and respect for others when you disagree with them. Pray often about getting the anger out. Pray about allowing others to have an opinion. Pray about being a peacemaker, and pray always about increasing in love.
Satan's trick is to get you fighting and fighting mad so that you fall. The next time he pulls that trick with you, just let him know... you now have a plan.

The power of our prayer increases when we commit to following God's Word today. The Bible says in 2 Timothy 2:22 Now flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.
A prayer to escape lust that forgets to pursue a Christian trait is a nice prayer. A life dedicated to pursuing traits like these four leads to a prayer life that begins to have power. Consider praying:
"Father, help me to flee lust, and give me a zeal for purity."
Active Christianity noted: "People who flee youthful lusts and fight for purity in their lives are few and far between. They are extremely precious in the sight of God, and He is able to use them to accomplish His good and perfect will on earth. “Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.” 2 Timothy 2:21."
    A Practical Example
I recently saw an ad about a steaming service that promotes a lot of smut. Today that ad popped into my mind. I immediately rejected that thought and started praising God and then prayed the prayer of Jabez: Lord, I pray that you would expand my borders, and bless me indeed.
In 2:22 Paul is recommending we run from lust as if a rabid dog is chasing us. But even more importantly, we pick a spiritual thing to set our minds on. These four traits are four of the best ten things we can set our minds on.
    Pursue
Our prayer life becomes a blazing fire when we make a habit of pursuing Godly traits. This century, consider making it a daily habit to pursue. Very few medical students struggle with lust the day before their final exam. They are in full pursuit of becoming a doctor.
Consider writing down 4-5 traits that you will pursue (probably one at a time) over the next 4 days. Then keep updating your list often. Obviously, you can pursue things like righteousness and love as a focus for one day out of every week.
Now you can study what you are pursuing a bit that day, and now you can pray fanatically with power to acquire what you are pursuing instead of being overcome with lust.

Sloth (Laziness) often leads to overwhelming temptation.

Proverbs 21:25-26 ESV The desire of the sluggard kills him, for his hands refuse to labor. All day long he craves and craves, but the righteous gives and does not hold back.”

Fight sloth because if you are someone who craves and craves, temptations will rule you.

Take special notice when reading old articles which give advice as to what “to do.” Copy and paste (or take notes on) articles that give things to do. Consider constantly praying about doing something:

“Father, help me to get moving.”

    Christianitytoday.com noted:

Sloth is psychological indifference and physical weariness toward the work that God has provided for one to accomplish.[3] Occasionally, sloth is due to Christians so emphasizing God's providential care for them and his promise to meet all their needs that they neglect the important element of their human responsibility to use their God-given abilities to engage in civilization So how can we avoid sloth?
    • Acknowledge God's explicit will for human beings to work to build civilization as the divine purpose for humanity.

    • Affirm that God has equipped you to do some kind of work.”
Second, lay up treasures in heaven first. If you don’t know how… consider praying:

“Father, show me how to lay up treasures in heaven.”

Third, get involved in other activities.

Finally, plan what you are going “to do.” Laziness is a habit also. Keep fighting it daily because it often leads to lust and other sins.

Yesterday satan fooled me again. He knows that I plan to never cross the line by looking at things that will cause a fall. So instead he gets me to make a bigger line. To turn the line into a giant thick rope. Still haven't crossed the line yet.
If Jesus were watching me watch that I would have been beet red. But I still haven't... wait - was He watching?
Satan just got Eve to slide her standards a bit to the left (in her mind). He will try the same stunt with every one of us.
Second, I worked endlessly to form the habit of turning from lust. But when you find yourself turning from lust every single minute... you may have the wrong show on.
Third, go to war against the habit of searching for the wrong things on YouTube or at a million other places. Consider praying about specific things you have searched for or clicked on:
"Father, show me how to break this habit of _______."

Jesus said to repent. Today I am repenting. I am raising my standards.

Yesterday I thought I was doing what I needed to do to further find my purpose. I prayed and prayed about purpose and then shut God right out when I put on YouTube.

Today I watched YouTube with an awareness of Who was also watching.

Yesterday's sloppy standards kept me from making progress on finding purpose. Today, I am determined to get the sin out and make some progress.

One thing leads to another. One sin leads to another. Consider what is going on in your life and think about whether it leads back to lust. This article is an answer to someone who said the following things cause them to fall.

Pride: In fighting mad I wrote about staying calm and allowing others to have an opinion. If this or something like that is a problem do a Google search "verses pride" and study them today or maybe print them out. Pride must be pounded out with scripture when it is a stronghold. Second, set an alarm and consider praying every hour:
"Father, take away my spirit of pride, and help me to run from lust."
Second, gluttony. I am praying again today:
"Father, help me to have self-control with what I eat." If it is a stronghold do a Google search "verses gluttony."
Wrath: Meekness is the ability to handle conflicts, insults, and crises without blowing up and without egotism. Meekness keeps us from temptation. Pray: Father, take away this spirit of lust and give me a Spirit of meekness.
Envy: James 3:16 ESV For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice."
I will write an article on this soon.
Greed: This issue is just like lust. We usually need to read verses on greed every day for a month to fight it back. Read verses first then pray about it.
Sadness: Here is an article about learning the habit of praising and giving thanks.
Finally, notice that the main thing we use to for the war is scripture. Search "verses _____" so that you know what God says to do to fight the issue. Then we can study, meditate, memorize, and pray over key scriptures.
Make it a daily habit to fight tooth and nail anything that causes you to slip up.

Someone noted envy as causing them to fall.

    James 3:16 ESV
For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice."
It almost says it leads back to P. Consider praying:
"Father, help me to believe that You will supply all my needs. Help me to care about others more than myself."
"Father, help me to remember that jealousy and selfish ambition lead to vile things and P.

    Proverbs 14:30 ESV
A tranquil heart gives life to the flesh, but envy makes the bones rot."
Pray to be content so that your bones stay healthy.

    James 3:14-15 ESV
But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth. This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic."
Demonic, wow... gotta shut these things out. Consider memorizing these verses plus a few others if envy or selfish ambition plagues you. Pound that darkness out.

Be specific with what you read. For example, you know that anger leads you to frustration which leads to P. So now you know to go to war with anger. Put anger in the NoFap search. First, try clicking titles only, then fill in the “Posted by member (if you like someone's writing). Click search. Sometimes you will get a lot of titles. If not, unclick “search titles only.”

You will likely find many articles that talk about anger. You have my permission to copy and paste any of my articles (for nonprofit use) so that you can study them. Second, decide how often you want to read each article about anger. Third, delete sentences that are repetitive or not relevant to you. Once you have the article trimmed down to where everything in it is important for you, it starts to help you make progress way faster. Now you can read it every day because it is fairly short and very relevant.

When you read it every day it starts to stick with you. Now it becomes natural for many of those things to be a part of your prayer life.

Please understand… it is more important to study scripture and key scripture verses. But sometimes this method works quite well and sometimes the articles have a bunch of relevant scriptures in them.

Fourth, put on your detective cap and “know” what causes a fall. Then dig deep into old articles on that topic. New articles are great, but if it is about envy and you never have a problem with envy, then new is lesser than old.

Finally, if you can’t find articles on a topic you struggle with please contact me. It is good to remind me that we need more articles on ______ and that I don’t need to tell anyone to turn from lust anymore this week. Oooops… a bad example, please turn from lust.

Delilah asked Samson. Tell me what would cause you to lose your strength? He said: New ropes. That night they tied him up with new ropes. Here is the point. Samson knew Delilah was ready and waiting to get him. But she was so beautiful and she told him how much she loved him (in between episodes of trying to kill him).
How stupid was he? We would never do that.
I put "snakes killing" into the search on Youtube. As I watched a few videos I thought, this is morbid, why in the world did I put in that search? But then as I prayed last night it dawned on me. The snake simply crawls up to the mouse until he is 5 inches from their face. Then he sinks his fangs into them. The prey is distracted or too busy eating to notice the snake. This happened time after time. The prey did not understand what a snake looked like.
We do the exact same thing. Satan crawls right up to our faces and tells us how great what he is offering is. When temptation overwhelms us we either have the habit of running to the verses for quitting or we get what satan is offering. The verses make us see what he looks like and what he is about to do. In the videos, the same thing always happened. The snake sank his fangs into them.
When tempted we can choose to run to verses about lust or we can choose to not be aware that a snake is 5 inches from our face with every intent to sink his fangs into us.

My Aunt was special. Everyone who knew her wanted what she had. She simply had a lot more light than everybody else. My Uncle and Aunt's motto was Holiness unto the Lord. They had it on a big plaque in their dining room and in other places. She was dedicated to prayer and the Holy Spirit worked through her.
My Aunt never had a TV and always went to war with sin. I never knew anyone who thought that she missed out on anything in life. Everyone I knew just thought that she was a great woman and that she lived a great life filled with joy helping lots of other people.
My Aunt thought and prayed a lot about spiritual gifts.

    "Spiritual gifts:
    • 1 Corinthians 12:7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8 To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. 11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.

My Aunt's life was an explosion of spiritual gifts. Pray for 15 minutes then read over these gifts. Which ones are of interest to you?
In 1 Corinthians 12:31 Paul encourages Christians to “eagerly desire the greater gifts”. We should each pray and ask God to give us spiritual gifts so that we can use them for the greater good of the body of Christ.
Do you want light and joy in your life? To get it pray earnestly about the gifts of the Spirit.

The Bible says to earnestly desire spiritual gifts. Here is a list that we can consider today. Your current gift may or may not be on this list but it is a start.

Exhortation: people with this gift are enthusiastic about the Lord and they can motivate others

Shepherding: looking out for the spiritual welfare of others

Service/Helps: helping those in need of practical assistance (Romans 12:7 NIV)

Mercy: The person with this gift shows acts of compassion

Giving: People with this gift will give freely and with joy to further His kingdom

Leadership: encouraging and helping others to build the kingdom of God (Romans 12:8 NIV)

Hospitality: Making people feel welcome, appreciated, and wanted (1 Peter 4:9

Knowledge: teaching and discipleship. The ability to learn, know and explain God’s Word

Discernment: being able to recognize the truth about a situation

Evangelism: the building up of the church so others will be led to Christ

Point #1 we should be thinking and praying about these types of things instead of worldly pleasures. #2 This is not a complete list, consider doing a Google search on Spiritual gifts to get a bunch more ideas. #3 When you find something that you think might be your gift, start to pray about it several times per day. We should always be doing something for God or be preparing to do something for God. When we do nothing, addiction rules. #4 There are spiritual gifts “tests” online. These tests are no substitutes for prayer, but they might give you some ideas.

Finally, God created someone very special when he created you. Your job is to find out more about that.

What if Jesus was magically transformed into a P addict? Furthermore, what if He decided he wanted to maximize His pleasure for one month? So the question is… would He still quit porn if He truly had that goal?

To get the answer we need to understand Jesus' belief about scripture. The Bible says that the wages of sin is death. For us, we sinned, we did not die, we are confused. Jesus is not confused by the scripture. He knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that with sin something always dies, or starts to die, or partially dies.

Jesus would also know that the Bible says that doing God’s will brings fullness of joy and pleasures forevermore. So… just as you suspected, He would quit immediately.

We will struggle to believe the Scripture until we pound and pound it into us. Consider printing out and memorizing the following:

“Eve did not believe that the wages of sin is death. She sinned and ate the apple and something died, something started to die and something partially died.”

I believe that scripture. Consider reading that paragraph every day until you believe it also.

When we believe, we start to find a new level.

Faith is belief. Believe that your joy will increase as you win the war against sin. Believe that spending a block of time in prayer will be the highlight of your day. Believe that strictly following the Bible leads to a great life. Believe 1 Timothy 6:6 Godliness with contentment is great gain." Believe the Bible when it states that “that true Christians have love for one another.”

Lifehopeandtruth.com wrote that we should “Put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.”

This passage describes a total transformation of one’s life. That involves leaving our old sinful ways of thinking and acting and instead living an entirely new way of life—a way of life defined by “righteousness and holiness.”

True Christianity is not just professing belief in Jesus or being a member in a church—it is an entire transformation of our mind and conduct (Romans 12:2). It is striving to follow and imitate Jesus Christ’s example in every aspect of life.”

Today, pick two ways that you can transform your life. Pray and think about these things often today. If you need ideas, pray and think about Godliness, contentment, or, increasing in love. Transformation should be a daily event since it beats back temptation. Consider trying to work on something every day.

Billy Graham was a famous preacher, but why? Harvest.org noted the following:

“When Billy was doing his crusade in Pasadena a few years ago, he attributed the success of these events, going back 56 years, to prayer.

If the Graham team had anything close to a personal intercessor, it was Pearle Goode of Pasadena. For many years, she prayed in secret for Graham until he heard about her and made provision for her to attend his crusades so she could pray on-site.

Goode lived to be 90. At her funeral, Billy’s wife, Ruth, paid her this tribute: “Here lie the mortal remains of much of the secret of Bill’s ministry.”

    She did her part

Pearle Goode wasn’t a preacher, missionary, or author. She didn’t have a hit song on Christian radio. But Pearle did her part, just as surely as Billy Graham did his.

While Billy was out preaching, Pearle was praying. While Billy was doing his part, Pearle was doing hers.

Don’t worry about what God has called someone else to do. What has He called you to do?

We all have a part to play in getting the gospel out. Make sure you do yours.”

I say that the Bible insists that we “Find our purpose.” Many say… how? The first key is to start today. Today, you can pray, “Father, help my friends here at this site who are trying to quit. Add to your purpose by praying over specific people. Add even more by praying that new people would find their way to this site. Next, pray for your church and community leaders, and the leaders at this site. Lastly, pray the below verse.

Matthew 9:38 Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

1 Corinthians 10:31 ESV / So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”

Pray about this verse and live out this verse. People do notice, and it is part of fulfilling your purpose.

Finally, consider starting to fulfill your great purpose by praying over these things twice per day. Pearle did it and you can also.

Yesterday was a bad day, so I did not write my normal article.

Psalm 26:2 ESV Prove me, O Lord, and try me; test my heart and my mind.”

I did not do well on my test. In fact, I was really unprepared for the test.

James 1:2-4 ESV Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”
This James passage is one of the scriptures that I meditate on regularly. I like to skim over this one because I don’t like it. I don’t want trials, I want blessings.

I should dig into this verse but I, like most of us, want things my way not God’s way. The net result of my ignoring this verse is that I am not perfect, or complete, and I do lack some things.

Most of us blow off the consistent study of the scriptures we need most to have a great life. When we ignore key scriptures, the test comes and…

If you keep falling it would be wise to increase your fear of God. Psalm 33:8 Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him!

I have never had one person say: “I keep falling because I refuse to run to study the verses about lust every time I am severely tempted.” No one says: “I just refuse to follow Jesus' example of running to key verses when tempted.”

Why? Because these verses produce fear. Wait, we are supposed to increase our fear. #2 These verses force me to do what I don’t want to do… quit. #3 These verses are giving control over to the Holy Spirit more and more as I study them more and more. #4 Fear of fire, car accidents, people attacking you with guns, and the fear of sin is all good. Pray for more good fear and pray that God will help you with bad fears.

Today I am going to study James One and start a long-term study on how my life will be if I learn to count it all joy when trials and tests come. What will you begin to study?

It’s even okay to write out all the blessings these verses say you will have (if you quit lust) as the first step.

The bottom line is… the tests and trials will come again. Hopefully, I will be more prepared for it next time.

I had a stressful week last week and I did not handle it very well. This week is more of the same but I am handling it way better. I recently wrote about:

James 1:2-4 ESV Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”

This week I have been bombarded with things going wrong, but I am currently working on making it a habit to count it all joy when things go wrong. The results were shocking. Because of praying over this verse and a fierce determination to obey this verse, I felt joy when things went wrong. The power of scripture is incredible.

Second, find a scripture you need and keep praying over it and reading it until it is pounded into you. Matthew 6:22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy,[a] your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eyes are unhealthy,[b] your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!”

Every once in a while change the word eye in the verse to “mind.” Trust me, there are a bunch of scriptures that tell us to have a healthy mind as well.

Read the scripture you pick every hour. Pray over it, think about it. Darkness leads to depression, and light starts to lead us toward joy. How many times do you need to read this scripture before it gets pounded into you?

I 100% understand how fantastic “light” is, especially when we start to add purpose along with it. The more you read this scripture the more you will understand.

My dream is that someday someone will say: “I read that verse 12 times a day for 7 straight days. Now I understand it.

Galatians 6:8 ESV For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.”

Comeafterme.com noted: “You reap in a different season than you sow.

    1) Notice that Galatians 6:7 starts by saying, “Do not be deceived.” Why does Paul begin with this warning? The answer is found in the fact that your reaping does not come immediately after you sow. Because of this, you can be deceived into thinking that the reaping will not come. Solomon said, “Because the sentence against an evil deed is not executed speedily, the heart of the children of man is fully set to do evil” (Ecclesiastes 8:11). If you could see the long-term results of your choices, you would always sow to the Spirit.”

It is wise to connect the corruption we reap with our lust. David sinned, and the list of the corruption it caused can fill up a large book. Try not to underestimate its damage.

Second, set a goal for how many new healthy habits you will have started that you will be permanently doing after a full ten days. What you learn and do today is good. Quitting skills that you make into permanent habits (like turning from lust), are great things.

Third, consider reading the December 21st, 2022 (from the link below) if you are new here article. It says everything about how I wanted to end this article.

In this thread I previously wrote about:

1 People who try to do things Jesus' way

2 A daily focus on love

3 Meekness, which is defined by Webster as enduring injury with patience and without resentment.

    Longsuffering

Christianity.com noted that “Longsuffering requires enduring patiently, without complaint, those who can irritate or work evil against us or simply to slow our anger so we can work together to bring glory to God and fulfill His calling. It brings us closer to Jesus as it brings us more into His image.”

    Consider praying:

“Father, take away my resentment and give me patience when life runs me over.”

Second, Paul would always obey the Bible and rejoice when things went wrong. But his problems were not as bad as mine. O wait, he was jailed and whipped, I guess they were worse.

Consider praying: “Father, help me to rejoice when things go wrong.”

Rejoice means we say, “Thank you, Lord,” when bad things happen. Then we look to God to see how He wants us to react to the situation.

But please... only focus on rejoicing if you want joy in your life.

To "be ready," spend time in Bible study and prayer (In the morning if possible). If you can't do it in the morning, go out of your way to listen to scripture daily on your trip to work or school. If you can't spend a block of prayer in the morning, set a time for when you will do it later. We need to put God first in as many ways as possible.
Second, we should praise God first. Psalm 150:6 ESV Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!
In the past, I probably said, "When a lustful thought hits, reject it and praise the Lord." But David (Who God loved intensely) praised God first. When he stopped praising God he started staring with lust. After his disaster, he resumed his great habit of praising God and giving thanks.
I still like my idea of rejecting a lustful thought and praising the Lord, but praising Him first is even better.
Third, improve how you look at things. If I stare at something that is borderline, my fun meter goes up a bit (for a short time) and my joy meter is ruined for a long time. When I am really living right I forward fast on Netflix way too often. Why? I have my joy, I have it all the time, I want to keep living this great life.
Today, consider raising the standards on turning from lust and from staring. Instead of keeping risky standards consider praying:
"Father, take away this lust and help me to care about souls."
"Father, show me how higher standards will lead to me finding Your joy."
Be ready, and find a great life.
