I have been on this site for at least three years. Dealing with the urges has always been the bane of my PMO-free life.

My thirteen years addiction of PMO left some near-permanent scars on physical as well as psychological trait. One of the ostensible scars is baldness. I consulted with a skin specialist about how to stop becoming bald prematurely. My doctor prescribed Finesteride 1mg to stop falling hair, and said that you will experience a diminished urges to have sex. My 75% of urges just faded away within a week of taking Finseteride 1mg.

Hair falls has stopped since then.

If your are single, dealing with extreme urges, and want to go hard mode I would suggest to take this medicine.
Warning: Finesteride is only for MALE. Please consult a doctor or medical professional before taking this medicine.

  2. Self-mastery works too I guess...

Glad you found your miracle pill. However, I wouldn't say that diminished libido is a good thing. Healthy sexual libido and addiction cravings are two different things. That is like praising antibiotics (which have their place of course) for destroying all bacteria in your system. Yes the bad bacteria is gone (cravings), but you also wiped out the good bacteria too (libido).

The analogy you used is fantastic. I take that pill primarily for stopping baldness, it comes with a side effect of decreased libido--in my case it is good thing thus far. You Medical professional, right?

  4. Yeah I should have kept that in mind... I'm glad you are finding success with this. Remember though, porn addiction is often times a symptom, not a virus, so I would encourage you to still figure out the real reasons you struggle(d) with pornography.

And no, I'm not a medical professional. Just a guy with some practical sense! Best of luck!

I definitely see where both of you are coming from. I'm glad that Yousuff has found something which works for him, but I generally agree that artificially lowering libido isn't the best solution. A healthy sex drive is a good thing. The problem, of course, is directing it to pornography rather than an actual person. Learning to overcome temptations to look at porn through the development of healthy relationships and activities is certainly preferable, but there definitely are cases in which lowering one's libido is a legitimate option.

Either way, here's to Yousuff's continued victory over pornography and some new hair :)
