    Hey,

I am a Muslim too or at least I have faith in god but I don't know if you can call me a practicing Muslim I think not which I'm not proud of. I did many bad mistakes. Often I didn't pay so much attention on my hygiene for example by PMO-ing. But now I want to make a change and you're right. Ramadan is approaching and we're not going to fail it. I always used to try to fast as long as I could. I want to exclude PMO from my life forever but on Ramadan I want to pay attention particularly. I recognized that since I've started PMOing regularly I became a worse person. Really unsatisfied and unhappy. I never dealt with my religion intensively.

But I look forward to keep watching your thread.

    Thank you.

    You are most welcome..

Yes PMO can have negative effects on us, and even if we know we can not withdraw ourselves from it, because it is an addicted to it.
Ramadan is the month of Quran, the month of forgiveness etc.. So lets start to prepare for the holy month the best possible way.

Do you read books, or see videos? Do you make effort to try understand what Porn is or the effects it has to our brain?
Because i read alot of books about it and do researches about it, trying to fully understand the porn on the brain. So it can become easy to remove it from my life. Knowledge is powerful. Action is necessary. And we have to act right now..

    Peace!

Hey, I'm a new Muslim, I converted last year. But I am just now starting to really learn and practice my faith better. I'm new to these forums as well. It's cool that this was one of the first ones that came up.

I have had a PMO problem for about 10 years now. My biggest concern right now is P, which is why I'm rebooting. I'm not entirely sure how our faith handles PMO, but I recognize it as a problem for myself and I want to make this change.

    Thanks for your reply Taqwaman,

I never read books about this but I've already inquired myself about issues and processes in our brain which get caused by porn to our personality and brain by watching videos about it.

You are absolutely right. Knowing what PMO leads to, changes your angle of view totally and let you know how it really works beyond our screens. In reality.

This might change your whole attitude about this.

    Best regards

Ok why do you wanna quit P, what does P do to your life ?

I wanna know the real problem of P in your life, so from there on we can make a plan to eliminate P from your life.

My situation is little different, I started to watch P, was because of boredom, social problems, i was young and stupid. It has been 10 years, I have struggled alot in my life because of PMO. Thats why I wanna completly eliminate it from my life. PMO stands between me and my GOD. It destroys every relationship I have in my life, it makes me feel empty from the inside, like killing my soul. I feel like I am nothing in this world, and I dont belong here, even I have faith in GOD. PMO is an addiction I have, and addictions are not easy to eliminate from your life. It takes time and courage, you need peoples help, mostly Allahs help.

I am in my day 31 and I have made a plan to how to stop PMO. I real alot of information about PMO, and I avoid triggering sites. I try to never be alone by myself, even when I am at home. Because shaytaan will get at you when you are by yourself.

You can ask me about everything. Peace!

You can buy a book for 5$ on yourbrainonporn.com, and trust me it is one of the best books on PMO and has helped alot of people to stop PMO. I am currently reading it. It helps me, and motivates me to continue striving for better future.

Thank you very much for the videos. Congratulations for reaching day 31. That's really nice and you are on the right path. Keep doing and don't stop.

Also thanks for worrying and asking about me, that means me a lot.

It all started some years ago when I was approximately 12 years old. You have to know that I grew up with a computer so that I always was connected to the internet and this stuff until I found arousing content on filthy internet sites which made me curious. It satisfied me and I didn't really know it was wrong or didn't care about it a lot so that an addiction developed. My consumption increased and over the years my view on females changed dramatically. I recognized how hard it was to not visit such a site and to avoid PMO. My regular consumption caused an addiction and I lost my faith on god more and more. My hearth got tougher and tougher until I wasn't able to feel anymore.

Simultaneously to that I've been addicted to computer games and computer in general. I played hours a day and in-between times I used to watch this stuff you know. Then I made a change with the help of my older brother. He helped me to quit playing computer games entirely. This took place when I was approx 15 years old I guess. Since then I did never play regularly anymore. Sometimes I played at most about 1 hour every 3 months but I totally lost the interest of playing any kind of computer games. For me it was a great success. But unfortunately I wasn't only benefiting of that. I had no replacement for the time I usually would spend by playing computer games. So a big boredom developed which is why I'm here now. Because of that boredom I always became aroused out of nowhere. For example when I was laying on my bed not unsuspecting what to do. These kind of situations mainly lead me to PMO. Or when I was bored in front of the computer in the middle of the night.

Well OK, you could say: Ok, why don't you look for any kind of hobby or passion to do to have a replacement ?

Actually I tried a lot of times but I have no pleasure to do anything at all. Nothing interests me. Always when I try to start something I instantly break it up after a while again. For example programming. After almost one month of learning I broke up cause of sloth. I think this pronounced indecision is caused and strengthened by PMO.

Now I'm still trying to banish PMO from my life entirely to ameliorate my faith, family-life and lifestyle. And also to finally find a passion to do so that I don't have to waste time while doing nothing, anymore.

    Best regards

Thanks brother for starting this much needed thread with Ramadan nearing. I'm a Muslim (Alhumdulillah 5 times salah now) and doing this. You can find my story on my journal here.

By the way for some reasons I'm mostly alone these days and am still able to get results by the Grace of Allah.

We will be glad to do so.The no water is usually the hardest but to reduce this difficulty we drink water and eat some food which is rich in fluids ( sohoor meal) just before Fajr Prayer. It also gets easier with time , I have been fasting Ramadan since I was 5 years old , so it's not really a challenge now.

  15. I'll have to look up when sunrise and sunset are in my area. I'm glad I have you on my side, Kurapika. Huge respect for all of you who have been doing this since childhood. I wish my own religion would emphasize fasting more.

So fruit and lots of water for breakfast. Sound likes something I can do.

Salam Ezmon. We are here for each other, and we will always look after each other. That is our duty as a muslim, and as a decent human being.

I can understand your situation, and how you may feel about PMO.
Well I have a good news for you, you are already successful at quitting bad habits, you did an amazing job to quit playing games all day long. If you can do that you can also quit PMO. You need to trust Allah and your self, because if you have the right mindset and the heart to fight this, you WILL succeed insha Allah! I will make dua for you ;)

Try to make a list what is your bad habits, and what your good habits are, and be specific about it. Try to see your life from an different angel, and write it down what you want to change about yourself and where you want to be in 5 years from now.

Rule nr 1: Never ever be alone!!! Start working out, try some running, gym, cold showers, push ups, anything that keeps you busy during your freetime. JUST DO SOMETHING!.

I will share with you my little secret; when I could not find anything productive/passionate to do during my absentence from PMO, about a month ago. I started to spend my time in reading and understanding the book of my Master (Quran), I want to just see and know is this REALLY something for me, and what it expects from me. And then I started to memorize it little by little, thats how I spend my FREETIME doing something productive and keeping my mind sharp. And trust me it has helped me alot, during hard times.

    Peace!!

Well you are mostly welcome to our thread. As i wrote before everyone is welcome, you can invite your friends too, and spread the good word.

Ramadan is the blessing month for all of humanity. It is the month of forgiveness. The month of our holy book Quran. Beautiful month, everyone should experience it!

Every human being is born with a pure heart. Yes you are certainly right about the heart. But the heart can be polished and it can be pure and clean again, if we abstain ourselves from bad things. There are many ways to polish the heart. Here is a good video about the heart:

    Welcome brother Firdi.

I looked at your diary and PMO story. It was a touching story, sorry about your mom, may Allah give her Jannah al firdaus ( the highest form of paradise).

Glad to hear that, but remember always one thing, shaytaan is more smarter than us, he knows ways to trick us. Dont get overconfident about not doing PMO, but have trust in Allah, and try to never be alone until your recovery is finished. I had alot of streaks, like 30, 65, 75 days, but my overconfidence in my self killed me :(

    السلام عليكم to all

Masturbating was and still an issue for me since I was 13 so almost 17 years now and the only time I was able to stop it for 3 months was when I fully practiced islam for 3 months and went to the gym as well and during this time the month of ramadan was also present. Here are my tips on how to refrain by practicing islam

1- Praying the 5 times as ordered by allah (as we believe ofcourse :) ) as you cannot pray after you had performed any sexual encounters unless you had a full bath or then perform ablution so it becomes a pain in the ass to do so

2- you cannot perform any sexual activities during the fasting times and the prophet pbuh himself never even performed during the afternoon hours as at this time you will perform many prayers

3- During the month of ramadan try to go more often to the mosque and put a target to read the quran on a daily basis as it will keep you occupied and further will enhance your spiritual state

4- Whenever you feel the urge get up and bow down to allah asking strength and then perform 40 pushups or as many as you can do to rechannel your energy

5 - Take the advice of the prophet and start swimming or going to the gym in general as it encourages you to refrain from masturbating to perform better

6- Have a daily or weekly session with an islamic sheikh to discuss your issues and he will further provide info that can help you tackle the issue but aim for one for gets it :)

7 - always remember that m is a sin not just because it simply is but because it can destroy your mental and physical health

Best of luck and like the prophet said اخلص النية :)
