This month marks 56 months since I first started recovery. Over the past few days I have been experiencing bouts of morning wood and deeply vivid dreams. Morning wood is at around 65% but still not 100%. What is interesting is that when flaccid it is still small, but last night I woke up in the middle of the night to very strong nocturnal wood.

My mood still isn't perfect but there is no deep depression or anhedonia anymore. Anxiety is also pretty low at the moment, however I still do not have the full range of emotions that I once had. Energy wise I still get tired during a gym session or throughout the day and still do not have the energy that I once had, but this is gradually improving.

Finally, I officially quit my job recently to focus on healing and since making this decision recovery seems to have picked up. I am convinced that all the time I spent stressing at work has dragged out my recovery massively.

Writing this as a placeholder for my recovery and for anyone going through a similar journey.

  2. Good for you my dear friend @mentorr - I hope you'll heal soon, stay strong, you can do it!

I have this morning wood too, sometimes is strong and sometimes it's weak and sometimes it doesn't happen.

  3. I have a different question, do you find it easy to think ?
I tried to study something but I can't do it - My memory isn't working and I don't have any sharp thinking, I feel like I'm on brain fog must of the time. Does this happen to you as well ?

Damn, I'm almost 500 Days and still struggling with this, better keep my hopes up for a better future.

Yes I do but it has gotten easier as the months passed.

I still have brainfog essentially but each month it gets easier. Brainfog increases if I eat badly (junk food, sugar etc).

  5. What kind of food should be avoided ? Recently, I feel like my brain is not working - Like I'm in a state of dream or something, I'm just there, Just an Observer, I can't think or problem solve anything, I don't know - it feels that way.

    Thanks @mentorr - I'm taking notes.

I still believe that you‘re progress is just because of time and abstinence.

TRE and Wim Hof can relieve some of the PAWS symptoms at least temporarily

My advice would be to steer clear of the following foods as much as possible, reason being they can impact your nervous system aka cause some imbalances while you recover:
    1. Sugar
    2. Fast Food Items (Burgers, Fries etc)
    3. Fatty Foods/Trans Fats (Fried Foods, Donuts, Pastries)
    4. Alcohol in Large Quantities
    5. Artificial Sweeteners (Soda, Fizzy etc)
    6. Highly Processed Grains (White Bread, Sugary Cereals)
    7. Highly Processed Meats (Pork, Deli Meats)
I am not saying you cannot have any of the above but for me having some of them in moderation has helped. Start eating the above regularly and you will start to feel heavy, groggy, restless etc. They will also increase brainfog and your ability to process information in my experience. Avoiding most of these will help speed up recovery.

They do for me! Just my experience. I feel PAWS symptoms completely lift after a short Wim Hof session. Actually, I had a session just now. It took about 20 min and I feel great.

    Give it a shot brother.

Nobody can stop you from suffering if that's what you want to do brother. Good luck on your journey.

But for the rest of you reading this, there are ways to at least temporarily relieve PAWS symptoms that do not involve antidepressants and other psychopharmacology.
