Hello - time for an introduction. I will just follow the paragraphs in the guide.

I'm a 36 year old guy from Germany. A former physicist now working as a pastor. Yes that's true and that's why I'm here. I mean it's because of the pornography in my life.

I've started wathing porn in my mid-twenties, when fast Internet became available to me. I always felt guilty, knew it wasn't right. There were times when I managed to stay clean for a weak or even a month but watching porn always came back. In my late twenties and early thirties there was a time when I gave up the struggle. I watched porn regularly, multiple times a day and thought that's just the way it would always be. I just gave up. It was also a hard time in my life, going through illness and unemployment.

Then I went to bible college (I've been a christian all my life) and got clean. Not clean of masturbation but clean of porn. A lot of people talked about it. Some even confessed their porn consumation. So I got a new sight. I realized that porn was truly wrong and that i was able to fight it, too. I quit porn for almost one and a half year.

Since March this year things have gotten worse. I'm working now as a pastor in a small town in a small church. That's fine. But all the healthy relationship I got at the college have gone away. And now I often am alone in my room with my computer. And you know what starts again: porn. I realize I can't handle it on my own. I want to quit. But often I want tu watch porn instead. Two minutes after masturbating to porn I want to quit. And so on and so on, most of you will know that cycle.

So I googled: Anti Porn forum. And thats when I found your website.

And maybe it's time to start getting clean of pornography with the help of the internet. I've tried it alone and failed.

  2. Hey @Euklid ,

Your name shows your mathematical background. So, I hope you are cool if I tell you a joke first . Hey, I didn't quit pmo to get miserable.

Joke: There are 10 types of people. Those that understand binary math and those that don't.

OK, now for my NoFap experience, strength and hope,

You are in the right place. My experience here is that I needed to learn the program and also get involved with the community.

The best resource I found was the “Getting Started with NoFap” guide. It is on the NoFap homepage and you can download it for free from this link https://www.nofap.com/forum/index.php?threads/new-users-list-of-rebooting-resources.50878/

    Then, watch this video:

It is really good and explains so much about how the blasting of porn images into the brain in high definition on high speed internet while slamming porn sounds into the ears with headphones can literally change the way your brain demands sexual stimulation.

The video explains it better than I can.

Also, a great page is https://www.nofap.com/forum/index.php?threads/new-users-list-of-rebooting-resources.50878/ my experience is that by reading every link and watching every video, I learned so much.

Then, I got involved with the community. I'm not anyone special on here, I don't have any magic powers. But, I can say hello to new members, post my journal entries, remember to “like” peoples posts, and offer my experience, strength and hope where appropriate.

Looking forward to seeing you around on the forums,

    L

  3. One of the ways I got involved with the fellowship was by reading some really great journals. Click "Watch Thread" in the upper right to get alerts when new posts are made. Here are just a few:

There are many more, and you can discover them on your own. But, these are great places to start.

This is a work in progress. So, if a journal has changed or is no longer active, look around there are some amazing journals on here.

Welcome to NoFap where you are amongst friends who are here to encourage you and sometimes challenge you but not judge you.

I noticed you mentioned you were clean from porn but not masturbation. Once you use porn to masturbate, the two are linked. If you continue M, sooner or later, you will return to M. Since you are a pastor, I would suggest complete celibacy.

The enemy is here to steal, kill and destroy. What are your current strategies for combating the enemy called PMO?

Welcome. I am also a Christian and I experienced the same internal conflict that you are probably experiencing. You can get clean if you are ready to get clean. I am overcoming about a 28 year long porn addiction. You can also if you are truly ready yo overcome it.

overcoming... this reminds me of the verses in revelations:
    "The one who overcomes."
