Porn has taken away immeasurable amount of time away from my life, has taken desire and ambition away from my life, and I don't even want to pursue a relationship because I know porn will ruin it. And there are a whole lot more problems porn brings that affect our lives. And with that in mind next time I want to fantasize about a girl or drink in a girl jogging on the side of the road or just watch a new celebrity sex tape I'll think of people allergic to peanuts, when someone allergic to peanuts sees a bowl of them, they don't fantasize about them or think of the taste, eating those peanuts will have negative effects on their lives! And may even take their life! They stay away from them, when they eat anything they make sure it's not made with or near peanuts, in the same way porn has very negative effects on our lives if we need to have the mindset that the consequences far out way the short pleasures of pmo. Taking steps to make sure vices or triggers, like not watching that movie with sex scenes that might trigger you or not getting the Gq magazine with the "snowboarding tips" because of the promise of the naked celeb inside. Taking small but wise steps like this may seem useless or embarrassing if others give you a hard time about it. But just remember your allergic to pmo and its triggers, they have serious negative effects on your life and should be treated like a serious allergy (minus physical death). I hope this helps. -cheers

I agree. It's like curling up with a cobra or keeping the arsenic next to the coffee. It's so dangerous and your comparison to something that may taste good for a minute but could kill you in the end is right on. The amazing thing right now is that by and large our culture is not taking seriously the harm this drug does. It's maybe like the early days of cigarette research when people were still trying to seriously defend tobacco on the grounds that the research was ambiguous and people were free to do what they wanted. While attempts to ban porn are not likely to succeed, if the results of recent research were better known and health warnings were widely understood that might make a difference. And save many of us from so much anguish and wasted time.

Just to add to the 'food' analogy (kind of) I decided that porn was simply no longer on the 'menu' for me and it helps to have these analogies sometimes. And just like any other menu there's plenty of other things to choose from. And even if it does find it's way on there (as it's peddlars will stop at nothing!) then its simply something I bypass in favour of something else even if that's nothing at all sometimes (meditation!!) as I'd rather go 'hungry' than ear their 'shit'!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Mgn-fXZRiM ;)

(Hilarious Steve Hughes clip jilted, just eat yer shit) :D

It was a big decision to remove porn from the menu, and it's difficult, especially when temptation is paraded around as a matter of course these days, it's amazing how subtle triggers can be The mind is so hungry for eye candy, it leaps at any bit of flesh, I think it's especially receptive in these early days of abstinence when it feels 'hard done by' as it's being starved of indulging its precious fantasy ladies.
