Hi everyone. I've tried to battle this for quite a while and finally managed to fight it properly. 104 days of no porn currently... Longest streak for nearly 20 years...

I've joined this forum quite a while back and at some points dissed the nofap, as previous long streak (due to antidepressants) didn't helped me, so I was mad. It's a bit different now.

I just made a video about my story and what do I feel after 100 days of no porn. Please check it out, it's only 8 minutes long, I've tried to edit it so it wouldn't be too boring. IT ALSO CONTAINS NO SEXUALLY TRIGGERING IMAGES. Also, used AI for the narration.

I hope it's ok to put this video in here. I love making YouTube videos and this topic is currently big to me. I would love to hear any feedback about the video.

  6. Thanks for sharing your story and the video. I think you did a great job on it.

  7. Congratulations and great video!
I find it interesting that you dont get more benefits. Mayby it depends on genetics. I have ADD so my dopamin is always low.
Thats why i am always in the search for the next "high" and porn seemed perfect. I could get high on dopamin whenever i wanted.
Did not know about the downsides for a long time. After 20+y of PMO i am so damaged i cant even function. Dont got a job anymore and cant concentrate.

If i do PMO now today i will be totally gone for two weeks atleast. Zero motivation and heavy brainfog (if i dont reset the timer by PMO:ing again, that will lift the brainfog for mayby two days).

If i abstain for longer periods so i get to around 30days without PMO i can feel the brainfog starts lifting i little bit and motivation come back in small increments.
Today I am at day 39 without PMO and motivation to do things are starting to come back. I think its my dopamin receptors that is beginning to recover to baseline.

I have read about several others that have the same symtoms on these forums. Often ppl that has PMO:d for decades but now always.

    Thank you everyone!
@Dudewiththeproblem , I wonder if it might be because I'm strictly doing no PM only and still having sex? What do you think?
I did first 7 weeks of my streak as no PMO and I felt that I could last further, but my partner came back and we have sex like once a week or so.

  9. No i think its partly genetic disposition. Some of us probably experience worse effects from porn use than others and therefore get more benefits from abstaining. Another factor is probably escalation of the addiction, fetishes and such to increase the dopaminrush even further and how long one has been addicted. Most likely many factors.

You do however have about the same history as me with 20+ years of PMO.
I am a bit older thought, in my 40s. That might be a factor.

I did not have that much issues with PMO in my younger days, it was mayby after 33-34 i was starting to really feel the negative effects of brainfog and it increased every year until i could not function like i used to. You quit right on time if that is an indicator!

Interestingly i get brainfog from caffeine also these days. Was a heavy coffe drinker for many years. Its like my brain cant cope anymore.

"caffeine increases the amount of dopamine in our brain by blocking its reabsorption into our bodies. It doesn't increase the amount of dopamine our bodies make, but it slows the rate at which dopamine leaves our brains and returns to our bodies."

It is probably because you developed high coffee tolerance. Coffee is a useful tool and has a lot of health benefits but if u are at a point where u develop dependency/addiction to it I would say it is time to cut back a little

  11. Yeah, i have been off caffeine for over a year. I tried it a few times between my streaks and after a week i get the brainfog again so no more caffeine for me. I drink decaf now.

hmm sounds unusual .I have read somewhere that in people with anxiety coffee tends to have the opposite effect than with most people.

  13. Dunno, my brain feels mush. Cant even drink alcohol. Not had a drink for like 3y.
Cant drink ordinary coffee, not drink alcohol, not masturbate.. Yep fun!
When i was younger it wasnt a problem. I guess all high dopamin fun takes a toll in the end :p

Congrats on your success man. About the social anxiety thing... I hear about people claiming nofap cured it and I think on my first 90 day streak it helped, but for a lot of us it's deeper than that. Things like hypnosis helped a bit too, I'm hoping the combo will help.

Great video and congrads on 100 days. I just hit my 5 month mark without porn and 16 days without self-MO. I have experienced some additional benefits even in this short time.

    1) I had tended to get very depressed when I fell, it wasn't just the guilt, but hormonally, I could feel it. My outlook on life would dim, everything would seem bleak. When I am abstaining, I am hopeful.
    2) I've also struggled with insomnia, and have written about it a lot here. Now that I'm over the 14 day mark, I do feel more balanced. My mind knows it's not getting the dopamine hit by staying up all night, so it just doesn't bother.
    3) Clarity of mind is huge. Porn and even just MO creates a brain fog, where I struggle just to think straight.
    4) I am more motivated and less afraid of trying new things, applying for a new job, starting a new training, exploring a new activity. Yes, that is confidence Bring it on.
    5) Losing weight, eating right, and staying fit is easier due to #4. As a result, I'm sure the testosterone thing is true. I'm curious if anyone has had T tests to show this, before and after nofap.

The odd thing is for me, just stopping porn wasn't enough. I was getting the same jacked up hormones, mental fog, and depression with MO and sometimes binge 3 times a day. I wasn't able to stop MO until really denying all my fantasies, fetishes, and sexual idols. Truly letting those go from my mind is key to me. I don't think I could stop MO without that. I also think that the changes people want from nofap are not automatic. Nofap gives you the time and hopefully motivation to make changes, but you still have to make changers yourself. You can't expect women to notice you if you are not out there in social settings getting noticed. You can't expect an increase in physical strength and health, if you are not exercising, you cannot expect a change in body composition, if you are not dieting. All these changes build confidence.
