    Hey there @Carlito and welcome!

Chatrooms were my particular brand of addictive hell as well. When I was going there, the level of despair, shame and anxiety in my life was through the roof. Something different is possible, though. It's not easy and, in my experience, it does not come quick - but it is possible.

If I were to recommend a few first steps, these would be (1) come here often in order to read and write, (2) get a filter on your computer asap (K9 Web Protection, for instance), and (3) begin to see you are not alone in this; many many many of us have been there.

    All the best...

  3. Those chatrooms got me in bad debt. Stay away from them, you don't want to be in the position I'm in right now. Do whatever it takes to stop using them. It truly sucks to be in debt.

Thanks Rio but it’s to late for me lm already in your situation that’s why I’m here it really does suck but we’ve got to start somewhere

  7. Sorry to hear that. It sucks to be in our position.

Here's some things you could do:

    • Every time you want to go on the chatrooms think about how bad your finances are due to going on them.
    • Read the Significant Other Journals. This is something I've recently started doing when I'm tempted to relapse. They're not easy to read at times because they can be so angry and feel so miserable by their boyfriend's or husband's addiction but it can be a reminder to us that how this addiction hurts other people. I don't say much, I just read and take in their pain. Reading how much someone is hurt by this can stop me from relapsing.
    • Download the app iQuit - it's an app that was originally designed to deal to help people who are trying to quit smoking and what it does is it works out how much money you save by quitting your addiction. You can change your statement from smoking to chatrooms in the statement section. So far it's saying I've saved around £6.60 by not spending money on cam girls. The longer you go without the more money you save.
    • Get an accountability partner. Ask in the Accountability Partner section for one. If you like I can be yours just message me.
    • Enrol on the 20 Ways To Quit Porn course.
    • Listen to some podcasts. In my opinion, the best porn addiction podcasts are The Porn Reboot Podcast and Worth Recovery. It's always best to take notes when listening to them because there's so much good advice on most episodes. I should add Worth Recovery is aimed at women with sex addictions but I've found it helpful for me as a man as well. And I think that's one thing that recovery from porn is all about anyway - recognizing the value women bring. Porn teaches us the only value women bring is their bodies and sex but that's not true. One way to break free from porn is to recognize there's more to a woman than her body or sex. Women can be and say intelligent and helpful things and I found that is shown in the Worth Recovery podcast.

They were just some ideas. We are all unique, have all come to porn addiction through a number of ways and reasons. One thing might work for someone but that same thing might not work for you. It's about finding out what method will help you get clean. The most important thing don't give up until you've quit and if something isn't working for you try something different.
