    Hey everyone! I just joined yesterday, but didn’t get the chance to post until today. I’m wary about posting, but I realize there’s a lot of value to be had in connecting with the community.

    Anyways, I’m a 22 year old male in my 5th year of college. I can bet you I would’ve been here less than 5 years if it hadn’t been for my gaming and porn habits! It’s hard to recall when I first got into porn, but it was somewhere in my early teens.

    Impact of PMO on Me:
    I used to not think much of masturbation. It was always just “a natural thing” that I was supposed to keep to myself. However, the frequency of my masturbation gradually increased from weekly to multiple times a day somewhere in my late highschool early college years. It wasn’t until late last year that I started to recognize a problem.

    The info in the starter guide was very enlightening (it also sounded a lot like my therapist in stereo!). I’ve lost a lot of time to my porn habits, and I’ve become engrossed in unrealistic themes in porn. I strongly believe I suffer from PIED, and I fear that without a change my current relationship could harshly suffer. I need to quit porn so I can ground myself in reality and keep my sexual health in balance.

    My Goals:
    I intend to start a reboot immediately with the parameters of the recommended 90 days under “normal mode”. I’m considering foregoing orgasm as well, but I believe that’s a matter I should first discuss with my partner first. I’m attempting to do a similar reboot with my gaming habits since they have haunted my work ethic since before my use of porn. I’m about 0.8 days in as of writing this intro, and I have high hopes for the future!

    P.S. What are the requirements for challenges? The 90 day post says no PM or O. I don’t want to accidentally join a challenge I don’t actually qualify for.
    P.S.S./Edit: Just started a journal! https://www.nofap.com/forum/index.php?threads/jackmcwaffless-journal.169456/

    Hello @JackMcWaffles, it is time for us to take away the power that P has over us. I'm just starting too, but I'm confident that it can be done.

    Regarding the challenges, you are the onlyone qualified to choose your own, and to decide if and when your are failing to it. Normal mode allows you to have sex. What you should pursue is to try not to think about porn or extreme fantasies while you are doing it, 'cause it can trigger your cravings and lead you to relapse.

    Welcome! You are in the right place.

  3. Hey @JackMcWaffles ,

    I'm just a normal ordinary member. No moderator super powers and no special insite. I share my ESH (Experience, Strength and Hope) of what works for me.

    Just another warm welcome and a heart felt hello. This community has helped me so much.

    What worked for me was "working" it. It took hard work for me to complete a hard reboot (No pmo) for 120 days, then move into a Sex Positive mode.

    First, reading the literature published by NoFap itself along with reading journals.

    Then, doing the work. Writing in my journal and replying to introductions and other's journals.

    Finally, but not least, getting involved with the fellowship. I found it on the forums, but also in people's profiles. The forums tend to be longer posts, where the profiles tend to be more "conversational".

    That is what has worked for me. I like to remind myself that this community was here waiting for me with the lights on when I arrived. Now, I have to do my best to be there when someone comes to the community.

  4. One of the ways I got involved with the fellowship was by reading some really great journals. Reading other's stories with their victories and even defeats is a big part of my program.

    I've included journals from all age groups, spiritual members, religious members, secular members, male and female. You should find journals that help. If not, look around, there are hundreds of others from which to choose. When I say "it works if you work it", reading journals is part of that work.

    Once you open a journal, click "Watch Thread" in the upper right of the page to get alerts when new posts are made. Here are just a few:

    There are many more, and you can discover them on your own. But, these are great places to start.

    This is a work in progress. So, if a journal has changed or is no longer active, look around there are some amazing journals on here.

    --> L

    PS - Starting a journal also helped me a great deal.

    The journals are listed by age groups on the forum start page.

    Most members run one journal only. That way both the member and others can go back and look at their journey at a later time.

    Hope to read your journal soon. Also, in your personal details you can put a link to your journal. Then, appears under your avatar.

  5. For me NoFap is 1/2 program & 1/2 fellowship.

    Click on these people and post a "hello" on their profiles.

    I've found that the bricks that hold this community together are cemented with the support of the members of the fellowship.

    @Chriss27
    @bartbar
    @mankiam33
    @Freedom Fighter
    @CrushPornBeneathYourFeet
    @JakeO5
    @Arohamystic
    @MLMVSS
    @Rising Sun !!

    Look at with whom they exchange messages and you will find more profiles.

    So, if you would have found more profiles yourself, why suggest these particular ones as a start? Those relationships started with just saying hello. So, my ESH is that saying hello has kept the fellowship alive for myself.

    Looking forward to your success and in seeing you say hello on these profiles,

    --> L

    @byeoldfriend @StopTheMusic, thank you for the warm welcome and words of encouragement. I definitely plan to investigate and engage with the community more. I already find that it helps me to return to the forums to keep my thoughts and goals in check. I hope to reciprocate the warm welcome you gave me to others in the near future!

  7. "Carry the Message", "Pay it Forward" or "Reciprocation" it works.

    I remember a few 24 hours ago when I joined AA (my sobriety date is 2/16/1996). I would see people take a 2 year, 5 year, 10 year or even 20 year chip.

    Seriously? I wasn't impressed. I was so new, so raw the very thought of even one year was both out of my frame of reference and my ability to comprehend it.

    But, 30 days? 60 days? 90 days? When members took AA chips for that amount of time, I sat up and paid attention to how they did it.

    Today, I see value and wisdom in listening to members with enough 24 hours in a row to total decades.

    One thing that happens when people join NoFap is they have decided they want what you, @JackMcWaffles have. Your ability to put 24 hours in a row together is exactly what they need to read about.

    HOW THE HELL DID YOU DO THAT? It's a question the answer to which can change not only lives, but the world. You @JackMcWaffles , already have experience, strength and hope that newbies need.

    When you start you journal (in the sections listed by age), please post a link to it in this thread as well as in your personal details page. I want to follow your journal.

    Being new, posting your truth, getting involved makes you the most important person here.
