    Hello Faptronauts,

I am new and I have never written this problem down until now. I have been fapping liberally since I turned 18 (Im 23 now). I didn't fap before despite the fact that most started significantly earlier, I knew about fapping but I didn't know how to do it. Initially, it helped me with girls because I understood my body better but as time went by I now I have to fap in order to relieve stress and stay happy-- or what I consider 'normal'. I once read an article that found that the post-fap brain looks very similar to the post heroin-brain. This is alarming and sheds light on the addictive changes to the brain. I think we can all agree that fapping is an addictive behavior. A behavior that can seriously influence you and your relationships.
I can proudly say I don't smoke and currently don't do drugs although I have experimented in the past. Right now I am clean except for this ongoing battle not to fap. I need to stop because the shame and lack of self control have been carrying over into other parts of my life-- girls, work, and university--which is seriously holding me back emotionally, spiritually, and intellectually. I want to regain control of myself so I can grow (emotionally, spiritually, and intellectually). I need you guys to hold me accountable, I won't lie since I have no reason to, it would only hurt myself. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.
    lets get it together guys.

Be sure to read alot of success stories! Also, don't look at porn because it strengtens the pathways to that and might be a gateway to the full pmo. You'll get withdrawal symptoms in the first month, but it'll be worth it. Your life will be so much better! Also, put a calender next to your PC and mark the days you have the non pmo streak, also really helps me.

The fact that you are writing this down is a clear sign that you are on your way to quitting PMO. Being honest with others means that you are honest with yourself. I am proud of you, as I am proud of all who take on this fight.

Don't feel discouraged that you haven't got a lot of response. I see you have already gone out and encouraged others, even though you are new here.

I recommend delving deeper into the forum, either General NoFap or one of the boards around your age and read other peoples' experiences, both how they got here and how their time through quitting PMO has gone. Try to identify triggers that cause you to fap and work out a way to remove as many as possible. Don't just think about it, physically do it. Make a list, post it on nofap, then post again when you have finished doing all the things.

Get a counter too, they help a lot of people visualise their achievements and also motivate them during difficult times.

    Good luck and welcome!
