You know, this whole thing with porn, it's kind of like you've been sitting in a dimly lit room for ages. It's comfortable, familiar. You know every corner of it. But it's also kind of limiting, right? The view's the same, the air feels stale, and there's a whole world outside that you're missing.

Think of quitting porn like finally deciding to open the door and step outside. At first, it's going to be super bright, maybe even a bit overwhelming. That's like the rush of facing the real world, with its ups and downs, without the crutch of porn. But then, as your eyes adjust, you start seeing things you didn't before – the colors are more vivid, the air's fresher, and there's so much more to explore.

It's a bit like when you first learn to ride a bike. Remember that? Initially, you needed those training wheels, and it felt impossible to imagine riding without them. Porn's kind of been like those training wheels. It kept you balanced in a way, but it also limited how fast and where you could go. Letting go of it, that's like taking off those wheels. Sure, you might wobble a bit at first, maybe even fall. But once you get the hang of it, you realize how much more freedom you have, how much faster and further you can go.

And hey, I get it. Change is scary. It's like standing at the edge of a diving board for the first time. You look down at the water below, and it seems so far and so intimidating. But you've seen others dive, splash, and come up laughing. That could be you. Taking that leap away from porn is scary, but the moment you hit the water, you realize it's not so bad. In fact, it's exhilarating. It's freedom.

So, what do you say? Are you ready to step out of that dim room, take off those training wheels, stand on that diving board?

I like this post. I started porn about 11 years old; PMO by 15. Now that I am a little over 2 years into recovery I understand what it is like to enter a world without porn. For me, it is like learning to live all over again. For me it is worth it though. Porn robbed me of so much. I’ve recorded most of my journey in my journal for anyone interested.
