Is this addiction just the same as a drug addiction?

I was just wondering, because I have a friend who is a drug addict, whining to me about having no job, no money, no nothing when he says he has recently inheirited a load of money. He says the executor is in charge of his money and he can't get it unless he passes a drug test. He doesn't want to take the drug test. This is just as baffling as porn addiction. Are they equal in terms of addiction?

 

This dude has thousands, maybe millions in inheritance and has no money or job, nothing, but won't stop smoking weed for long enough to pass a drug test. I was wondering if porn addicts would make the same weak move.
