I've been hearing a lot that the older you get, the less plastic your brain is (less able to rewire itself). Is this true? I'm 20 years old now and have been a pretty heavy porn user for a long time. If I quit, will I see a full return to normal sexuality?

Welcome, you are at the right place and there are a lot of good people here! :)

I have been a 2-5x/day PMO user since I was 18. I am now 27 and I want to quit for ever. It's been a year since I started my journey on NoFap. I can tell you I had a severe case of PIED (Porn Induced Erectile Dysfunction). I mean it was completely dead and nothing would arouse me anymore. Within two weeks of stopping on my first attempt, my erections were coming back in a hurry! I also got less and less brain fog.

If it weren't for my relapses and teasing my eyes (which I still have problems with), my erections (and other things) would be back to normal, but I am still working on finding that strength to quit forever.

NEVER GIVE UP! I know it's a long road ahead, and you might be unsure if you will ever get the results you want. I can tell you a full recovery IS possible. It is worth it. I am telling you as it is, but I went cold turkey. I would literally shake and sweat bullets because my urges were so damn high at first (they pop up every now and then). Despite my relapses, I am doing better than ever before! Please feel free to respond if there are other questions about this!

    Older guys actually recover faster.

There's no such thing as being to old to quit, tons of guys on here are 30+ even some 50+. If anything its harder for us young guys because this garbage has been the norm our whole lives so thats what our brains have grown into. Don't be discouraged by that though, its a bit more complicated than that but the bottom line is that its never too early or too late to get clean.

Good luck and stay strong man!

Definitely. But you can't just chuck the habit out without having new habits or lifestyle changes. That is typically accompanied by a change in lifestyle and personal psyche.

That's why some of the bros here turn to religion, meditation, sports, etc, taking up studies, etc.

So you decided to stop fapping. What other things are you going to replace it with?

    Age 39. Taking a CFA.

I don't know any science that backs that up (maybe I'm just ignorant), but I do know that the longer an addiction goes untreated, the more difficult it can be to bring it into remission.

Eventually, yes. It depends on more factors than just your age. It depends on how long you've been addicted, the underlying problems that caused your addiction to develop in the first place (and whether you do anything about them), and how seriously you treat your recovery. However, I'm really happy for you that you're taking your recovery seriously enough to join this forum when you're only 20 years old. I'm 25 now, and I wish I had started recovery five years earlier.
