Introducing myself and explaining why I am here

Why am I here? Ok, pretty obvious. I am a heavy porn user and I want to get off this stuff. To help me achieve it I am basically looking for one or several accountability partners (then as a group). I assume the following: The more you have in common (concerning your relation to porn & others things in life), the best the team is likely to function. So here in a nutshell some details about me:


I am 56 years old, divorced with 2 adult kids, a stable job and no health issues worth mentioning. I overall lead a happy life with a stable social environment. I have been using porn for 40 years. Until about 15 years ago it did not my sexual activities in the real world at all. Both sides of my sexuality lead a coexistence and the sexual pleasure with real women was usually stronger than masturbation using porn. This slowly began to change around age 40 and it coincided with a faster internet enabling streaming films and an abundance of choice. It got worse and worse until I more or less stopped to be able to have an erection and orgasm when being with a woman about 7 or 8 years ago. I somehow learnt to live with it although it cost me a couple of promising relationships. The women backed off when they learned that I struggled with porn addiction and an incapacity to have normal sex with them. I have learned my lessons since. I met a woman a few weeks ago. I told her about my problems with sex performance but did not mention the porn problem. I decided instead to quit porn for the moment to give this relationship a chance. So far I am in the third week of abstaining from porn though masturbation without porn is “allowed”.


A few details to the addiction as such: I have been registering the time I spent with porn for several years. This monitoring gave me the impression/illusion to stay somehow in control. On average I have been masturbating on porn between 4 and 8 hours per week with between 5 and 15 sessions.
