I am a newbie here who's been abstaining strictly for 14 days now. The thought of having a wet dreams freaks me out. I don't want that.
I have heard that once can avoid it by waking up early in the morning like 4/5 o'clock since it usually occurs a few hours into one's sleep.
Does wearing loose fitting clothes help?

    Any tips to avoid it?

Question is do you really want to be waking youself up every night to make sure something that may not happen actually happens. Don't be freaked out by it. It's a natural and healthy thing. More importantly it's normal. It is a sign that you've not been masturbating. Don't be troubled.

From having had my first wet dream last night in about 10 plus years, I'll say I'm looking forward to the next one. Yeah it was odd but it as a release too.

Why the hell should he look forward to a wet dream when the only purpose it serves is slowing the reboot down?

Thanks for you personal message, clumsy. Very kind.

I can only relate to my own opinion on the matter. You have your way, I have mine. I appreciate your sentiments, but you strike me as a bit of a NoFap 'extremist' if ever there is one. Crikey dude, calm down! Next you'll be telling me not to touch my penis when I need to pee . As long as I don't masturbate or look at porn, I see little harm in wet dreams. That is my opinion on the matter.

Again, thanks your message. I know you mean well. ;)

Haha, you're welcome. Yes I'm an extremist, I know. But extremism is necessary here.

Yes don't ever touch your penis.

Oh yes, I will never touch my penis again. Period. Whilst in the toilet, I will now use tongs.

Okay, complete 180 from me on this. Having read this...http://www.gotquestions.org/wet-dreams.html Maybe you're right, Clumsy. The night before my wet dream I had very, very lustful thoughts. These aren't helpful in the long run during the reboot.
Plus, I also had sleep paralysis that night, which was far from welcome and absolutely terrorfying. Imagine being partly conscious and not being able to move. That and wet dreams, are connected it's believed. Not saying I believe in the the succubus demon, but to have a wet dream and sleep paralysis in the same night was beyond strange.

Glad you took my post in good humour btw. I never meant to upset you or offend. :)

Lustful thoughts are almost as destructive as the actual act of masturbation, it's almost equal to viewing pornography, depending on the power of the individual's imagination. It should be avoided, and this is very hard and wont happen over a night. It takes weeks, months, years to train up, but once you've trained your mind to get rid off erotic thoughts, everything gets easier and your reboot is speed up greatly.

This is why is it so necessary to occupy the mind, make sure to always have some activity at hand that you can distract yourself with. Sudoku or similiar activities are soo beneficial. PC games can work, but sudoku or some activity that demands concentration and training of the mind is preferable.

And always, always sleep on the side. I sleep with a knot on my back, so that everytime I fal back on it I either wake up and turn back to my side again, or I in my sleep turn around. Every wet dream occurs sleeping on the back or possibly abdomen. It's easy to avoid this. And wet dreams have a tendency to increase in frequency if you don't take care of them. Some guys on these forums has reported having 3-4 ejaculations during one night, leaving them absolutely drained out in the mornings. This must be avoided.

  8. never had a wet dream though maybe its becasue I havent made it that far as yet.I guess wet dreams is the body's natural process to get rid of excess...you know what.If it happens I wouldnt try to stop it.

A fortnight is a good start - well done dguy! I wonder why you are freaked out about having a wet dream. Assuming you have been masturbating habitually for 20 years probably means that you have never had one. A few guys never do have them, but most of us do. Going to bed naked is what I do. I find this results in less friction against the penis. Even loose fitting undies brush against your cock, which doesn't help. Having said that, men get 6 erections a night (on average).

When we have a surplus of sperm and semen, the body will likely ejaculate excess cum. Because of the erotic dream that goes with it, the phrase wet dream is used. But we are not all the same. Although I cum at night sometimes, I have no recollection of the dream. So, don't worry about it. When you wake up you will find some semen on your sheet, that's all. There's nothing to worry about and no need to reset. (Take Clumsy's scaremongering with a pinch of salt).

Thanks IGY. Well, I have been masturbating for 18 yrs now and I did abstain for a while earlier too but for a wrong reason, I guess. I did have my share of wet dreams a few years back, thanks to some silly webgroup under the name of wetdreams/wetdreamsproject. I don't remember the exact name and I don't want to.
It was all about abstaining with the goal of achieving wet dreams. Ultimately, I did got 2 or 3 of them after a while but that was it. I wasn't willing to go further with that experience because there was nothing so amazingly erotic about it as described by members there; everytime I woke up in a pool of mess fumbling to recollect the vivid details of my interrupted dream.
Moreover, it wasn't abstinence in the true sense because I was preoccupied with sexual thoughts all the time (plue indulging the edging techniques, something short of masturbation, described by members there)

I am glad I left it.

    @ Thackeray

Thanks for the suggestion. I have had my share of west dreams in recent years after abstaining for a while. I have described that in my post in this thread. It's the faint memory of erotic dream that accompanies the release which is a problem. Its difficult to shake off at times and kind of stays with you and then ruins it all.

Thanks for the advice. It's just that wet dreams usually ruins the calm that I achieve through abstaining and bring backs the sexual thoughts; something I want to avoid totally.

(saying that from my previous experience with wet dreams, a few years back)

You are very welcome man! :)

It is interesting to hear your story regarding wet dreams, which really puts some context into this thread you have started - thanks. Some people really do experience it as something very erotic. The ones who do seem to wake up just as the orgasm starts to build when they are still penetrating somebody (usually) and their penis shooting their seed with waves of orgasm. Like me, you have never experienced that end part (consciously).

You make a good point about edging, too. Of course, edging feels amazing, BUT it is counter productive to achieving the NoFap goal. It induces a far greater amount of dopamine in the brain than masturbating and cumming straight away. So, you were right to leave the other site. But I would say to you again - please do not be anxious about wet dreams, especially as you do not find them all that erotic, if at all. Best wishes: IGY :)

IGY, ya, not consciously though I did wake up in the middle of a wet dream and could feel the last faint twitches of my penis as it is squirted out the cum. However, what follows it is a preoccupation with sexual thoughts. But, at the moment, I shouldn't think much about wet dreams.

I never knew that edging can cause a greater dopamine overload than masturbation; that's one reason to avoid it totally during reboot.
I just hope to get through this phase because right now, I have facing some intense erections, hard enough to keep me awake for a few hours into the night.
Well, I can overcome this now that I am on this site for the 'right' reason.

    Thanks

For gods sake: THE BODY DOES NOT NEED TO EJACULATE SEMEN TO GET RID OF OVERLOAD. THE NATURAL WAY BODY TAKES CARE OF EXCESSES IS ABSORBING IT AND CONSERVING ITS ENERGY. DO YOU GUYS HONESTLY BELIEVE ITS PERFECTLY NATURAL TO WALK AROUND WITH A DROOLING PENIS, LEAKING SEMEN 24/7? OR TO WAKE UP DRAINED BECAUSE OF A WET DREAM? ANIMALS DOES NOT HAVE WET DREAMS, HUMANS DO THOUGH. BECAUSE WE HAVE SUCH A FANTASTIC IMAGINATION THAT MAKES US VULNERABLE TO ERRORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And yes, one wet dream with orgasm equals one fap with fantasy with orgasm. It's a setback, always. And most guys feel it. Superpowers -> Wet dream -> Loss of superpowers. You're never as high on energy as you should have been when you've had a wet dream in the morning.

Clumsy, please tell me you have diary/journal? You are without doubt the most interesting user on here and I feel compelled to follow you. Love your passion, man. In most posts, it's like I see you shouting from a biblical mount, thumping away at a keyboard as sweat pours from your brow. You're great! Your posts are different and whilst I don't always agree, I find myself always reading them.

    I might start a diary/notepad here.

I wouldn't say that I'm an aggressive person, nor that I'm an extremist, because I'm not. I just understand the seriousness of this matter, therefor it would be a SIN for me to just tell people "Masturbation is harmless, a relapse is nothing, porn sometimes can benefit you and your sex life". People MUST understand the dangers of this, we must never back down cause of cowardice and deny the harm of PMO. We can't afford being too kind, too soft on this subject. We must inform people with the most sincere honesty, even if the truth will hurt, it must be told. I honestly believe that masturbation will ultimately lead us to an end, it just gets worse. In 50 years our society will be so deprived, I wouldn't be surprised if even pedophilia would be legalized... What a terrible, terrible fate.

I agree, man. This day and age is like 1920's Berlin or the last days of Rome. We're in moral decline, no doubt about that. Maybe worse with this instant access to any type of porn 24/7. I appreciate your thoughts on the subject. You're quite right in what you say.
