I am an idiot. I may not be intellectually inferior, but I have a filter in my brain. A filter that only lets thoughts that i like through. Thoughts that lead to something pleasurable, even if its destructive. it is idiotic for anybody to allow that filter to exist. With it there, we will never be able to achieve freedom because we can't convince ourselves that we need to change EVERYTHING, not just some things in our daily lives. In my life, porn isn't my only problem, as is the case for almost all of us. Every time i relapse, i make a game plan to change my ways and stay farther away from porn, but i often forget to change my life habits that eventually lead me back to porn. Long naps, memes, social media, junk food, laziness, just to name a few. it took three relapses in one week for me to realize that i am doing all this wrong. All this time i have been trying to fight porn. I have been trying to turn off the darkness, when i should have been been turning on the light.

From this point forward, I am going to stick to my gameplan. No more relying on motivation. No more relying on the fleeting hope of victory. instead, I'm going to force myself to achieve it. As we make our gameplans, we need to first recognize our weakness. For me:

    -Long naps
    -staying up late
    -watching a lot of TV
    -looking at memes for hours
    -procrastinating on homework
    -anger
    -not exercising
    -junk food/bad diet
    -giving in to depressing thoughts
    -anti-social behavior

Based on my weaknesses, I now have to craft a gameplan that covers all these bases so i don't fall back into my destructive addiction. To do this, i will make a list of things i can do/rules i can follow to keep porn and stimulating content at bay:

-Run two miles a day at gym
-Go to bed before midnight every night
-watch no more than two hours of TV per day
-NO MEMES. seriously. They waste precious time and provide you with no fulfillment? sound familiar?
-Force myself to stick to a homework schedule. I should do at least two hours of studying a day.
    -Relax/take a walk/listen to music when I'm angry
-Stick to a healthy diet. No candy. No sugary drinks. At least something with protein every meal.
    -Eat breakfast every day.
-Do something funny every day. Stay in a good mood.
-Stop watching Youtube videos when bored. Do something productive
-READ!!! I love reading, but i haven't done it because these destructive habits are more pleasurable. I'm done with pleasurable. Reading is more fulfilling.
-TALK TO PEOPLE!! I am incredibly anti social. I need to start being friendly to everybody and take opportunities to be with others when i can.

Fapstronauts, it's time to grow up. It's time to leave behind our childish obsessions with chasing pleasure and search for fulfillment in our lives. That is the only way we are going to climb out of this deep hole that is porn addiction. I hope that you will join me in making a gameplan that is true to yourself and will be a real tool to help you in your war against porn instead of a temporary guide to avoiding porn.

  2. Dude, I needed this. Thank you! Lots of great advice right here. We have to be truly honest with ourselves if we actually want to improve our lives. The truth is not easy.

Very motivational. An anti-porn speaker I've been listening to (Matt Fradd) has emphasized that for getting over porn, it's important not to just punish ourselves. We need healthy alternatives to what PMO was providing to our lives. Thank you for the assistance.
