It's been a long while since I've abstained and after quitting cold turkey 5 days ago, I've been having urges. They haven't been too bad before yesterday, and last night they kept me up since it was all I could think about. How do you guys fight the urges and keep from MO?
There are tools you can use, meditation and taking a shower, getting up and getting out of the house and perhaps just doing 10 push up's. I mostly like the idea of meditation which in essence is just clearing your mind and accepting your emotions and the urges they present. I like to let myself know that it is simply an urge, and it will pass.
Clearing your mind in some way is the obvious one. With prolonged physical arousal, I've found it useful to use a physiotherapists ice pack placed across the top of my thighs for a few minutes which usually does the trick.
