for the last month or so I've been kinda successful or at least I made some progress on NoFap I did streaks for 9, 7, and 6 days (I know this is nothing but it's huge progress for me cause I used to fap literally every day)
let's cut to the chase now
currently, I'm going thru some shit and I'm feeling stressed and lonely asf all the time and family problems make things 10X worse and I can't move out coz I don't have enough money. anywayyys I've been trying to deal with all the negative emotions but I don't know how until I relapsed today coz I was at my lowest and I really needed something to get my mind off things.
so anyone has some ideas on how to cope with stress, negative environment and negative thoughts without escaping and watching porn?

Viewing pornography is not going to solve the suffering you're going through. If I stub my toe while I am cooking pasta, my mind will focus on the pain, but if I then burn my finger while trying to cook pasta, my mind will only focus on the burn. So does burning my finger take away the pain that's in my toe? of course not. The pain is still there, you just can't focus on both of them because your brain is only able to focus on one thing at a time (the burn).

Such is the case with pornography. It's not going to solve your stress, it is only going to mask the problem. When you view pornography, your family problems are not going to magically disappear. I wish it was that easy! lol! So I am appealing to you to try to work on one issue at a time. It probably won't happen overnight, but you can make progress. Perhaps you should take up a new hobby. Learn a new musical instrument, go for walks every morning, play basketball with your neighbor, etc. It's up to you.

Accountability is the best tool you can use. If you don't have someone you essentially need to answer to, beating this addiction is not a smart bet.

No one thing can replace porn. You need to figure out exactly why you use it - which might not be the same as what drew you to it in the first place - your triggers, withdrawals, etc.

Having said that - exercise is a REALLY good start. Next time you have the urge, close your laptop/put down your phone and do ten jumping jacks/burpees/pushups /exercise of your choice. If it hasnt gone away, GO OUTSIDE, short walk round the block, jog sprint etc. Whatever your fitness level find something that will get your heart going and distract yourself.

Getting a job is good advice, of course, but it's a process. So do something towards it every day, say for an hour, or as much as you can manage. Update CV. Browse jobs on the internet. Apply to three jobs. Etc. And dont forget about volunteering or work experience -sucks to work for no pay but it really does pay off.
