The main reason why I want to stop masturbation and be away from it is because of my faith in Jesus Christ. You know, I am aware that masturbating is a sin against my own body. I do not want to keep disappointing my Holy Spirit and have lust. I believe that I will experience the fullness of my blessing if I stay away from lust. It is the main reason why I want to abstain from porn and such but I struggle a lot especially when I am not dating anybody.

I am just wondering if I am the only one here or not for the reason to not masturbate

Definitely not alone. Plenty of people on here, including myself, are trying to clean up their act to please God.

I also feel like my struggle affects my relationship with God the most. But i also must remember, when it gets to be the worst it can be, those moments are also ones which sent me back to him. In no way do we keep on sinning to justify it, but i do see how God is using my struggle to bring me closer to Him. "Draw close to God, and He will draw close to you".

Dudes...There is a lot of self-judgement going on here.
You are speaking as if you cannot receive God's love or be saved because of your using porn. There is nothing you can do to make yourself right with God - and that's the whole point: "God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Rom 5:8) While you and I were still looking at naked people on the internet, Jesus died for us. The fullness of the blessing is already yours! Take it!
What shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall porn or masturbation or lust or loneliness or PornHub or nakedness or danger or sword? ...No! In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. (para Rom 8:35,37). God has already won this fight, so put on your armour and claim the victory.

Overall I do agree strongly with this post - I think we also need to hang onto verses that help keep us strong. There are lots of them, however there is also much in the bible that scares the S### out of me (in BOTH old and new testament); and that's probably what some of the things others on here are referring to (perhaps); HOWEVER - one thing I know is that it is IMPOSSIBLE to gain salvation on our own, NO MATTER HOW PURE any of us could ever be. Example: Christ said that if man even thinks a lustful thought, we have already committed adultery in our heart. Basically He put the bar so incredibly high, that nobody on earth could ever achieve it. That's why it's only achievable through Christ's forgiveness. I (for the most part) do try to walk it out, however I feel I fail daily on many levels. It is a journey. It must be the condition of our hearts, as I don't know what else it could boil down to. I think in the end we really need to latch onto verses that we can strongly identify with, and claim them completely for our lives.

I'm working on day 5 here. 25 yrs into porn addiction. Never thought I'd be dealing with this at this age and after 15+ years of marriage and 3 kids later. I need those verses more than ever - I have nothing else to go on. Keep strong
