How far am i into my reboot???

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Deleted Account, Mar 13, 2019.

  1. So i have been doing nofap since august 2018, i have had a couple relapses since than, maybe like 20 in total i think, maybe a little more, but i have of late made huge progress i think, so let me describe changes i noticed and maybe you can tell me how long i have left until porn is out of my system. So the first things i noticed when i started were of course uplifted mood, more energy, less depression and anxiety, and now that i eat healthy all of that is gone. I am more active than i have ever been, instead of laying in my bed all day and playing video games i go to the gym, clean, brush my teeth, better myself all day, eating healthy, meditating, cold showers. My morning wood came back recently, i have them every day now, i also this week had two nocturnal emissions for the first time in my life, i have had wet dreams but never with orgasms. I also noticed a lot of girls are into me now, i get a lot more attention from them now and its nice, and i would say that is where i am at right now.

It's a legitimate question that you're asking, but I'm sorry to say I just don't think there's a good way to measure your recovery. Sometimes it can be really difficult to know how far along you are. Your daily counter is not necessarily an indication of how far along you are. You can be hundreds of days clean from PMO, but if you haven't integrated recovery into all aspects of your life, you're at risk of falling back into it easily.

Think of your recovery as a journey through a parking garage with hundreds and hundreds of floors. You start at the top and you're walking all the way down trying to get to the exit. Each time you reach a new floor, you get a little closer to the bottom, but every floor looks the same. Since every floor looks the same, it can be really hard to believe that you've made any progress at all. You'll relapse, you'll still have urges, you'll still have days where you feel like the only thing that will help you feel better is PMO.

You just have to trust that every time you advance to the next floor, you get closer to the exit. You may not always be able to tell how close you are, but that's not the important part. The important part is that you keep moving. Every day you spend focused on your recovery is a day you get closer to the exit, and you just have to have faith that you'll know when you're out of it. Things will look a lot different when you're finally out of this parking garage. You'll be able to see the sky, you'll have freedom to go other places, and things will just look a lot more open. You have to trust that you'll get there eventually, and that when you do, there will be no doubt that you've made it.

    I hope that helps.
