    Hello,

I tried every week to stop , as I believe my pelvic floor pain is do to overmasturbation. It’s been 3 years with pain on perineum area, several experts and imaging exams showing not problem , I do notice masturbation increases it.

Each week I tried a 7 day challenge , each week a fail after 2-4 days, and on day when I fail, I masturbate like 3-4 times. I do it 7-10 times per week, sometimes more. I want to go several days without it to reduce pain, and eventually just cut it down to 1-2 times per week, but I cannot manage to succeed.

If I put away electronic devices, then my mind just thinks about it, and I end up failing. It’s been almost a year of my trying, and failing. Once, and only once , was I able to make it to 10 days . After that 4 has been max, but most weeks just two days max

Which means that it's time for you to find something else to do in your life, instead of electronics. Find new hobbies like hiking, exercising, reading, meditating, etc.
It seems that this may not be your most strong motivation to quit. Sit down with yourself and figure out what's your strongest motivator and let that reason lead you away from PMO.

  3. I agree with Hros...this reason is not a strong enough motivation for you. What in life means most to you? What do you feel your purpose in life is?
Relating this change (no PMO) to whatever "makes you tick" is what will be a strong enough motivator for you.

And you must find some way to change your focus when thoughts turn to PMO...DO something different when this happens--get up and move around, get down on your knees and pray, go take a cold shower, whatever you can do to STOP those thoughts when they START, don't wait until you're already engaged in the activities you're trying to avoid.

The problem right now is I’m with broken ankle , and not weight wearing for 6 weeks, cannot drive. So I’m confined in the apartment. No Roommates or family , so alone all time during the 6 weeks.

So, you've got plenty of time to find the right motivation, and you can do other stuff besides physical activities: art, meditation (you don't need to sit cross-legged for that), reading, writing, listening to music, learning an instrument, learning a language, etc.

The frequency of PMO you describe is much greater than the goals you describe. You need to realize how serious your problem is and take action. This is important. We will be here for you when you fail and you will because this is hard! But when you fail you need to try again. Learn from your mistakes. This isn't easy for any of us. Be strong my friend!

  7. All of the previous replies are correct.

I haven't done it yet — this is my first ever attempt — but the reasons why I'm doing it are all good. Here is how I'm doing it. Consider what you can learn, copy, modify, change, or invent for yourself.

    First, why:
    • While I'm addicted, I'm not the only one to be hurt, and I don't believe in hurting others if I can help it.
    • When I watch porn, I support an industry that exploits vulnerable men and women.
    • I damage my brain and my body with obsessive porn and masturbation. This helps no one, and reduces my ability to help others.
    • The damage from PMO renders me incapable of having a healthy relationship with a healthy woman.
    Second, how:
    • I use the counter as a motivator. Every afternoon, I look at it to remind me of my goal and to see that the number is going up daily.
    • I use the app Habit Tracker to motivate me further.
    • I visit here daily for inspiration and to help others. (There's no satisfaction quite like being able to support someone in need.)
    • I refuse categorically to look at or listen to porn. If something comes into my view, including "soft porn" (as so many pop videos now use), I immediately avert my eyes.
    • I visualise what it will be like when I reach my 90 day success: What will I see (the counter showing "90" and then my fist punching the air); what will I hear (my voice exclaiming "Well done!"); what will I feel (excitement, pride, delight, a smile on my face).
    • I notice things that I had "no time" to do, but now I'm doing them. I praise myself for this.
    • I never judge any person (except when they deliberately harm others). Negative energy hurts. I remember that I'm also a person, so I don't judge me.
    • I look for the good in every person. I remember that I'm also a person, so I look for the good in me.
I hope that you can get some ideas from this.

What I like to do is to fast. When my stomach is empty, it makes it impossible for me to think about PMO, so that helps me survive for the first week. Once I get past one week with no PMO, it gets much easier for me to resist temptation. Usually the temptation to masturbate and view pornography affect me at night or early in the morning. When I've got lust in my thoughts, I try to focus on something else; something that's inspiring. There are images that you can set your mind on that will kill sexual images. For me, the most inspiring thing I can think about is Jesus Christ on the cross.

I'm sure there are things that inspire you, so when you've got a picture of a woman/man in your head, think about that inspiring image and it will overpower the sexual thoughts.

  10. That's… drastic! I know that I couldn't do it (literally, because of health problems), but it highlights how different methods work for different people.
