Just had a devastating piece of news.

An old friend of mine had been missing for the last week raising concerns as for his well being. Nothing from his family - we were just getting totally Stonewalled & were just told he was unable to speak at the moment.

Just got a call from a friend who told me he's been sent to prison for 8 months - illegal porn.

There was just no indication whatsoever that he was into this kind of thing, nothing. He was such an outgoing, gregarious person. He had been single a long time and I know he liked looking at porn & my initial reaction to this is that he got sucked into the cesspit and accessed things he would never have dreamed of looking at before the advent of online porn.

He's now banged up in jail as a sex offender, his family have disowned him and he's ruined his life. Don't know what I'm going to do going forward but I need to process this news first as I am totally stunned.

Not so stunned that I can't post things on here though & it's the first thing I've done since putting the phone down as I just want to reiterate the point made frequently on this site that online porn can warp you and drag you into behaviours you otherwise might not have exhibited.

    This is very sad.

It reminds me a local news story I read several days ago which, unfortunately, takes the tragedy a step further. The link is at the bottom of this post, but it essentially involves a 29 year self-confessed porn addict who committed suicide after police found pornographic material involving underage people on his phone. He contacted police immediately prior to his suicide, alerting them to it and confirming his wishes for his organs to be used for transplants, and he left a suicide note in which he thanked the authorities from freeing him from an addiction which ruined his life. I find it tragically, tragically sad.
