Here goes nothing!

  1. Hi Everyone,

I am 27 years old, and last night I came across the TedTalk dealing with 'Your Brain on Porn'. I started masturbating at a very early age (I believe I was in grade 3), and it has become a large part of my life. Since then I've masturbated at least once a day, sometimes up to 5 times a day. Like other people have said on this forum, at that stage it's not sexually pleasing anymore, it's almost as if I was doing it out of boredom.
The addiction to pornography started at the age of 14 and I went through cycles of watching it everyday, to sometimes going months without it.

After hearing some of the benefits that people on YouTube had from not masturbation or watching Porn, I've decided I have to stop. In all honesty, I don't foresee giving up porn as being that difficult, but not masturbating will be the hardest part. I'm almost done Day 1, and it's been pretty tough. But I'm determined to make it to 7 days. Wish me luck!

Hey! Good luck! We share some things in common, I just turned 28, started masturbating at a young age, and now it's routine (1+/day.. usually 3-4 times/day). Today I watched a Ted talk about the pitfalls of being addicted to porn/masturbation. So I looked online and couldn't believe there's support groups for this.. I thought I was alone honestly.
I want to gain back some self control, be productive during the day, and stop feeling guilty (.. taking hours out of one's day just to find something new/exciting really screws up your ability to focus and be productive).
Today is my first day as well. Like you said, boredom might play a big role in it. When I'm home all day and suppose to study, I'm most likely to turn to it.. One day at a time right?

Anyways, just wanted to show support, and say that I can definitely relate to your story. Best of luck, and keep us posted!
