Have you been introduced to porn by a relative?

Have you been introduced to porn by a relative?

The first people that introduced me to porn was my relatives. My father was proud that I liked to watch naked women at TV (I mentioned in my journal that Brazilian TV in the 90's was very open), and so did his uncle (My granduncle). Later on, when I was 12yo this granduncle lent me the first porn videotape I ever watched. By this age I've found my father's porn stash (a collection of magazines that he never thrown away).
My father and my grandmother encouraged that like it was a prove of my manhood.
At first my mother was conniving, but, she didn't encourage me. She didn't had the strenght to say "Stop that!"
As I grown up the porn collection also increased. We had just a VCR so videotapes was the most common; when we bought our first DVD player I remember that my first toughts were "Yay, more porn!" and they used to buy me some.
When we bought our first computer it was placed in my room; internet porn was one of the most obvious uses for it. And I used to be proud of what I watched because this seemed to cause a certain contentment to them (father, grandmother).
Now I try to deal with these twisted feelings because it has hurted me for a long time. There is nothing to be proud of.

Does anyone here have a similar story?

  2. This is interesting. I've never heard of a similar case. As for me, I got in contact with porn naturally at school. Sometimes we found porn magazines in the school area and we looked at it. I was something around 9 years old at that time. However, I caught my father watching porn quite a few times, that was maybe when I was 12 years old. Later on I started watching that stuff regularly myself. In other words, it was my environment that gave me access but I was never introduced to it e.g. "this is porn and now let's watch".

  3. I was introduced to it by my classmates back in middle school. Got hooked for years and now trying to recover. It took away the innocence of my high school years.

It sucks that this was encouraged from your parents and now its become a problem for you but I would advise against holding a grudge against your parents because of that.
They also never experienced high-speed Internet porn which is another beast entirely.
When you get older you start to realise that your parents made a lot of mistakes too, but they are (usually) just trying to do what they think is right.

Lets be honest, you probably would have ended up looking at internet porn anyway as almost all young men with access to the internet do.

Maybe when you have your own son you can share with him some hard earned wisdom about porn.

Now my parentes are divorced, almost 10 years (BTW things are better between them as divorced as when they were married)... But they deal differently with this phenomenon.
My mother is more attentive, she tries to understand and help me.
My father don't believe in PMO addiction or think it is dangerous.
As a matter of fact I don't think both of them could imagine the consequences of porn to me.

As I said above, I don't think my parentes could imagine the consequences of porn to me.
Even if they had different opinions on this matter, they both agreed that it was normal for a boy my age... or they agreed taht it was "man stuff".
Years later my mother told me that she suffered long time during their marriage because of my father's taste for porn.
Now I think she is aware of the dangers of porn not just to one person but for society. In the other hand, my father completely ignores it. Now he doesn't have internet access at home but when he had, surely he had plenty of porn to watch.

Parenthood is one of the things that frighten me the most in life
