Got triggered, still not going to relapse.

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by LumberSpartan, Apr 25, 2017.

  1. Yesterday was a tough day. I got exposed to a lot of triggers simply by watching TV, and when I was looking up tattoos online.

Honestly though, I would say the TV was by far the worst of it all. I mean, I can understand artistic nudity/semi-nudity (the latter of which being most tattoo and other art being mostly of the former), but the stuff they allow on womens underwear commercials is ridiculous. This stuff isn't art at all, it's porn. Perfume commercials are just as bad, but I didn't see any of those yesterday. I mean, there are kids watching this stuff, why is this allowed?

However, I have learned from my mistakes and I am going to avoid these triggers from here on out. Honestly fapstronauts, TV is a dangerous place and you would be better cutting it out.

I'm mainly posting this as a reminder of what I'm here for and what I'm fighting. Seeing (semi)nudity doesn't equal porn, but it is still non-conductive to my recovery, so I will avoid such material. As the Bible says, "What goes into a man is not what corrupts him, that which corrupts a man is what comes out of him." This means images have no power unless we give them power through our lust and our energies directed towards them. However, the Bible also states this "All things are lawful, but not all things are helpful. All things are lawful, but not all things build up." This is a great thing for anyone to remember in this struggle, and something to judge your actions against.

We must always remember that the fight is not with anything or anyone outside of us, but within us and against ourselves.

  2. 100% agree. I didn't seek out this material, so it isn't a relapse. The best option when you accidentally find this stuff is to move on and not to let it define you. I think I'm going to get rid of just about all TV except for educational stuff, it just isn't good for me anymore (if it ever was).

  3. It is mind boggling how these adverts are allowed. On the same note, we can't escape triggers because there are everywhere these days. Outside in the general public, posters, commercials, TV shows/movies, internet searches including YouTube, people interactions and even comedy has some porn triggers init and so on. It makes our struggle with PMO that much harder but there's nothing we can do but face these triggers on a daily basis. All these platforms I mentioned before generate money and unfortunately there are making a lot of it. Its a sad reality.
