I am thinking of starting a dopamine detox by abstaining from music, coffee, chocolate and gaming. Would it help me to be a more stable and patient person?

    Yes. Try these rules:
    • No electronics (no phone, Netflix, laptop or video games etc.)
    • No reading of books or magazines
    • No sex or masturbation
    • No food
    • No talking
    • No music or podcasts
    • No coffee or other stimulants

I really need my phone and laptop for my daily work, so that is not a option.
I also need to eat! As I exercise almost daily.
I also need to talk at work.
But the rest I can do.

In my case I need to stop gaming. That should help me A LOT. Gaming is my porn lol.

I'll try, if not I'll have cut it, in the meantime I'll try replace it with reading though. Should be less aggressive this way.

Lately, I have thoughts about distancing myself from junk food, games, music, and youtube something that I do often, and it's stimulating for the brain and maybe the brain needs some rest from all the stimuli. Besides that constantly consuming something being food or content online doesn't seem healthy and especially when you don't create and just consume all the time. Maybe it's not quite dopamine detox or however do you call it but maybe it's something that I could try doing. Creating more and consuming unnecessary things less. Could be also another way for me to procrastinate and avoided all the things that I know I should be doing but instead, I listen to hours and hours of music or watch motivational or even self-help video after a self-help video. There is nothing bad with watching self-help but when you only consume it and don't act on anything in life or search for answers yourself a bit then could be a problem.

This week I'm visiting my parents. I'll leave my notebook and take a few books. This way I can avoid gaming and being online all the time. I want to try to cut games for at least a month.
