I had a dream about porn last night and I want to know does this hurt my rewiring? Does dreaming about porn cause a dopamine release like it does when you watch it while awake?
Well, you can't really control your dreams, so I don't think it's too much of a problem. I dreamt last night about watching porn, and it sort of helped me come to terms with my cravings.
MAybe it does, maybe it doesnt, who knows? Maybe its just part of the proccess. My advice to you would be to focus on the things you have any control over and not waste energy on the things you dont.
Personally, even though you can't control your dreams, I believe you dream with what you have been unconscioulsy thinking. For example, there are those who believe that wet dreams (aka. sexual dreams) ocurr when you have been thinking about or longing for sex/ sexual imagery etc., it happened to me once, and I did long for it in that day, so I believe in this as well. It is obvious that you can't control your dreams, but I guess that if you do your best to not think about porn, it should help.
Don't worry about the things you can't control. I don't know much about dreams. But sometimes when those occur, it almost feels like my brain is purging itself of some of those images/ideas/thoughts. I have no basis for that, other than that's what it feels like. Almost like a computer filtering through a bunch of files before they're deleted forever. In fact, I've had more "wet dreams" when I've been on a good streak. More like my body is reacting naturally to being aroused, rather than me forcing it by using images or my own hand. The biggest proof of this is that I don't feel depressed or ashamed afterwords. More like "huh, that was funny" and I move on with my day in power. Do you feel bad or sad or anything after this happens?
Yesterday was the best I felt so far, today I feel the same as before. Not sure what to make of that.
I don't entirely understand it myself. Sometimes they are porn dreams, other times they are actual sex dreams but are clearly influenced by porn (youre the one having sex, but it looks like a porn scene) and sometimes they can seem like just a regular sex dream, nothing pornographic about it. Was it a wet dream? Those usually come with chaser effects, though even just porn dreams can be your subconscious' way of trying to get its fix of escaping reality.
