    Hello Fapstronauts,
So I have been free from PMO since August 16. I was wanting my wife to initiate sex yesterday. I got frustrated that she didn't. I was reading on here many people abstain from sex with their partners for at least 30 days. Is this something I should ??

  2. It's said that we supposedly heal our overstimulated dopomine receptors and let our neuro-pathways in brain fade faster if we do not partly stimulate them. This is why many nofap members prefer to abstain from all sexual activity for a while instead of just stopping porn and/or masturbation alone. Think of it like a healing of a scar; if we scratch it all the time then it will heal slower than if we stop picking on it completely. PMO is like tearing a wound open with force every time over and over again. Stopping PMO gets rid of most of the problem and healing can begin finally. But sex is still like picking on a wound a little bit. Because all sexual activity is using same body and brain parts, so they don't get to rest fully.

It's really a trade off. Rebooting while having sex is easier, because you would still get sexual release. But complete celibacy for a while would get you rebooted faster. So depends whether you want to have easier healing of faster healing. Personal preference really.

  3. I recommend 90 days (minimum). o_O After years of abuse by masturbating to porn, 13 weeks is not too long to go without sexual release to get a degree of recovery. Your complete reboot from the damage will likely take longer than 3 months, but that seems about the right time to allow the brain to rewire to natural sexual intercourse, rather than an artificial means. :)

Something else to keep in mind. If she knows about your PMO use, she may still be angry and feel betrayed. This soon especially, she may feel like you're just trying to use her to replace your porn. Both of you will need to work some healing.

From my understanding, if you have sex with your SO, you are rewiring your brain to prefer sex with a real person. As long as you don't fantasize about P!

Yes, sorry I replied to the wrong post lol. Healing is slow but steady. This disease has taken so much from me. But, for today I am sober. Thank you for working this program with me :)
