I read this article on Facebook on multiple pages about a woman leaving her fiancé one week before the wedding because of her discovering porn on the guys phone. I'm pretty sure you guys heard about it too.

The majority of the comments sided with the guy, even women. Now I saw comments about women saying that they let their boyfriends / husbands watch porn and sometimes even watch together.

Later on, my wife also saw the article and she had also sided with the guy. She even told me it was ridiculous and that it's not considered cheating and it was okay.

To me, if the fiancee really loved her fiance, she would have helped instead of cancelling the wedding and leaving him. That's not a reason for leaving someone, especially with the struggle everyone is having with porn nowadays.

That also triggered the idea of "hmmm, maybe it's actually not a bad idea looking at it". I haven't done anything, but it's just that I had the idea.

I installed cold turkey, but I still had to add over a hundred websites. I googled "porn" and added all resulting websites to cold turkey block list. I'm doing everything on keeping my super streak.

People do see porn as "normal" that's why NoFap is view as a dumb thing by some people, but the same thing happened when cigarettes were view as a good thing.

But yeah I get those triggers from time to time too and my addict mind always tries to see porn as a normal thing to do. It's great that you manage to not do anything and install that! You should be proud of your effort! Good work man.

  3. That's very true you don't just ditch someone you say you love and agree to marry because of that, Helping and working threw the issue probly would have brought them closer and been happier. I wonder what her faults were?

It's really difficult when it feels like nearly everyone thinks porn is acceptable, but you don't. However, there are a couple of things to keep in mind:
    1. Just because the majority of people believe in something doesn't mean that it's true. If everyone in your neighborhood believes there's a unicorn living in your backyard, that doesn't mean there actually is. In the same way, if the majority of people in our modern world believe that porn is a harmless, regular part of a healthy lifestyle, that doesn't mean that it actually is.
    2. What other people think about porn shouldn't influence how you feel about it. If porn is a problem in your life, and if you feel better without it, then it doesn't matter if other people think it's okay or not. Let them watch porn if they think it's okay. You just focus on you.
EDIT: It's also important to keep in mind that high-speed, high-quality streaming porn over the internet is still a relatively new concept. It hasn't been around nearly long enough for us to have done adequate research on the long-term effects of using porn. I think the research that's out there is minimal when compared to research on other addictive substances like alcohol or nicotine, and there are still so many questions about internet porn that we have yet to answer. There are even some psychologists out there who don't believe that you can even become addicted to porn, which I think is more of a testament to how misunderstood the subject is. I hope that our collective understanding of porn and the way it affects human life continues to grow, but there's also a lot of bureaucracy surrounding research on the subject.

  6. Eh, lotsa superficial marriages, this story doesn't surprise me. People marry based off superficiality alone, like money, looks, etc. Oh well.

Maybe the woman found a richer guy, who knows

  7. Mainstream porn is violent and abusive, no woman should be with a guy who watches porn. Saying this as a guy.

  8. Considering the information available it's hard to make judgements. Maybe the guy had been caught earlier on watching porn, perhaps multiple times, and the woman got enough of it and left? Remember that there's usually a ton of information in news articles which is left unrevealed.
My opinion based on the info i have is that if they were so close together that they were ready to get married, -assuming they didn't make the decision after a week of dating- then it would have been better to try to help the guy get over his addiction, since every relationship will face some sort of difficulties eventually. Facing them together adds openness and trust between them. Then again, i don't know whether they have discussed the topic before.

You're right here though, we don't have all of the information. It's the best way to make an article go viral. It wouldn't be as viral if the information was fully there. There's a lot we don't know so we can debate for hours on what exactly happened.
