[Chrome] How to make your New Tab page work for YOU

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Deleted Account, May 7, 2017.

  1. Hey fellas!

I found a combination of things that WILL help you on your journey here. They are...

    1. Remove incognito mode - Google, in all its infinite wisdom, does not allow this to be disabled. Hence, even with filters etc., we use this mode to get around being held accountable. A programme known as IncognitoGone will permanently remove it from your Chrome browser. It will be viewed as unsafe to download (strangely enough) so you will have to go on your Chrome Settings and uncheck the "Protect you and your device from dangerous sites" in Advanced Settings momentarily to allow it to download. This has been invaluable to me.
    2. Block your history pages - I am guilty of, countless times, deleting triggering history and search terms from my browser history to hide it from my family. To prevent me from doing this at all, I use an extension called Block site. This beauty allows you to type in triggering words, search terms, websites, the whole nine yards into a blacklist and block them. I hide it in the Chrome menu so I am not tempted to undo them, but if you have reached the point you are deleting terms directly in your blocker or filter you are pretty much beyond the point of help. I speak from personal experience. Blocking your history page prevents you clearing anything, so you will be unable to hide your viewing habits from anyone who can see it. As a handy extra feature, you can link to any page for your browser to automatically go to should it detect one of the blocked terms or websites in your search bar. I would hands down recommend the Emergency Button.
    3. Get the New Tab Wallpaper extension - I myself would often open new tabs to search for models, swimwear magazines etc., terms that would be unblockable on K9 etc. (the foundation of any Fapstronaut's computer reboot). To solve this, I downloaded the New Tab Wallpaper extension. It allows you to put any image into it and have that as your new tab screen. This can be anything you wish, but I have put together this using some Fight The New Drug imagery: You simply get the extension, click the gear icon in the bottom-right corner and upload the wallpaper (click 'fill' for the best view). You will notice that in the top-left corner (strategically positioned where the search bar begins) I have a simple three-word sentence. STOP! THINK. DECIDE. I hope you like it:

Well, that's all the ways I know of making your Google Chrome page optimised for NoFap success. May it help you out, and as Gabriel Kalei Bocanegra would say, stop fappin', stop yappin', and let's start making s*** happen.

    Gratias Tibi!

Good tips but inspirational quotes never work on me.

This is a great resource. There is a paid option as well which is good. With the free version there is still the option to disable it but it works as a way to pause and think before you do anything you may later regret.

A too short pause...Unfortunately, often the urge to fap is stronger than the few minutes of pause necessary to disable Block Site, K9 or other software.
