Can anyone share their experience on the effect that Rebooting has had on your relationship?

I’m currently enaged to my fiancee @blighties246. We’ve been dating for one year and very recently I’ve decided to persue a life free of PMO.

This hasn’t been easy for me to talk about with my partner as I’ve been addicted to PMO for over 20 years now which is, as you might have guessed, brought on a lot of feelings of shame and resentment toward my inability to control myself.

At first, my partner’s reaction was to be resentful of me and my actions because I kept this part of my life a secret for about 6 months (we had discussed my problem before and I had promised to take action and simply stop viewing porn). But in the past week we’ve come to the understanding that this is not only something that I need to feel more confident and be more productive but also somethin we need to have a much healthier and honest intimate relationship.

This doesn’t mean we don’t still have HUGE communication problems...

I recently brought up my intention to do a 30 day reboot and asked her how she felt about abstaining from sex for 30 days and my response was very impatient, my initial reaction was to feel that her wanting to weigh the pros and cons of this decision was selfish and that she wasn’t considering the fact that this is something that is very difficult and important for me.

I understand my reaction was wrong, and that I need to be more patient and be grateful that she’s making efforts to better understand not only my PMO addiction, but addiction in general.

Any advice on this would be HUGE for us.
