I'm starting my reboot, again (lost count how many times) but I'm reading this forum and already bored -- it's like, all the posts are exactly the same as they were when I first joined and yet here I am, still not getting it!

    However ...

I think this boredom is my own discontent and resistance, rather than anything to do with the forum -- more like, I've got myself into a space where I need to continually 'consume' in order to keep myself normal. The Internet equivalent of flicking channels on the TV.

    Does anyone relate to this?

Funnily enough I realised that the most likely time I'd relapse would be when I'm bored. Boredom leads me to browse or "just a quick peek" at porn (Findom for me personally) and then it inevitably leads to relapse.

I just try to stay aware of it and don't allow myself to even look.

I have ADHD and hard relate. Here’s something funny to think about; the NoFap forum really is just endless variations on the same themes… and so is P. But P is infinitely interesting and NoFap can quickly become boring.

I’m not diagnosing you, because anyone who wants to quit P needs to find dopamine (and time) replacements in order to succeed. Exercise is a good way, more intense the better. Forget getting ripped or getting stronger or anything like that, there’s a lot of neurochemicals that help maintain focus and mental health from exercise. Then identify things you already like to do, and do them more. You probably like them because you get dopamine out of it. Also take a moment to give yourself credit for behaviors you want to reinforce. Yeah, dishes and laundry are basic parts of adult life, minimum standard, you don’t need a friggin’ Nobel prize every time you put your clothes away. But, if they needed to be done and you didn’t want to buy you did it anyway, give yourself credit. And, if you haven’t been doing them, compare yourself to who you were yesterday. Give yourself a small dopamine boost to reinforce the behavior.

  4. The reason you see the forums as the same old thing is because you are looking for solutions outside of yourself. All the answers you need are contained within you.
A good therapist simply listens and allows the patient to eventually come up with their own solutions....
What the patient needs is a guide, someone to listen and encourage.
It's no different on this forum, nobody here has the exact solution for you, only you know what that is.
However, there are many good ideas and stories here that can help you find your way that is unique to you!

I also think I have ADHD. I grew up in an era when diagnosis was not a thing, but I did get confirmed as Dyspraxic when I was older; Asperger's has also been suggested but not properly confirmed, so it really would not surprise me if I had other undiscovered neurodiversity.

It's very correct -- the desire for a fix has been particularly strong today.
