Bicyclists that ride on the road

Discussion in 'Off-topic Discussion' started by Deleted Account, Apr 20, 2018.

  1. So I've always been perplexed against people who do this. But today I'm delivering food to a customer and I come back to work and I take a left turn and this bicyclist out of nowhere is right next to me flipping me off and yelling at me. I didn't think anything of it and just drove off chilling.

Apparently this man has the nerve to call the restaurant and rat on me. My boss took me aside and said "some cyclist said you were attempting to hit him with your car, he was super pissed and wanted you fired. Try to be more careful."

Like wtf, this man ratted on me and said i basically tried to kill him. And then he wanted me fired? What an actual clown.

Bicyclists that ride specifically on the road are kinda obnoxious. I say if he gets hit he gets hit, it's common sense. Honestly, it's just wildly irresponsible. Ride on the sidewalks. People have to slow down and go around you.

Fuck that guy, he’s risking his life pretending to be a car. He should ride on the sidewalk or go find a bike trail somewhere away from traffic.

They shouldn’t be, I don’t feel sorry for them if they get hit by a car either.

  5. In some places bicyclists are legally not allowed to use the sidewalk, and you probably didn't see him and endangered his life because you weren't looking where you were going because you are a cager. I ride motorcycles, and you can literally make eye contact with a cager and they will still seemingly try to kill you.

  6. Here in WA the cops have literally told me not to ride my bicycle on the sidewalk.

  7. This is a shitty attitude...

I ride my bike to work everyday using both sidewalks and roads. Depending on where you live sometimes bicycles are banded from riding on sidewalks. Technically they are slow moving vehicles entitled to the rights AND rules of the road. Rights are the thing most cyclists are quick to adopt, rules are quickly ignored, which is what pisses off most drivers.

Second point: it was shitty of him to try and get you fired. No harm no foul. He can flip you off and leave it at that. It's hard to know from your post who is really at fault but from experience with biking (commuting and pedicabbing) the cyclist should assume in every situation that people in cars can't see him.

A word to driver. Be more careful and kind. Share the road.

A word to cyclists. Don't be dicks to people who make honest mistakes and try and get people fired. Let that shit go.

  8. It's just a safety hazard. Bottom line, he's a prick and a snitch. I didn't see him, sure. I didn't expect some douchebag not in a vehicle to be playing on the road.

  9. Or in his mind you are a prick for driving oblivious to the world while he was forced by law to commute in the most unsafe way possible, you endangered his life, and he informed your manager that you are more or less a menace to anyone not on 4 wheels.

  10. maybe we're all pricks just riding the streets together

  11. Oh we are. I used to have a sportbike, and thought everyone was a prick for not seeing me, then would go do 120-150mph on the highway, and could just hear everyone thinking "and look at this asshole."

  12. I used to hate cyclists until I became one. I realize that I'm taking a risk every time I venture out. Many drivers simply don't want us on the road and are not afraid to let us know. For the most part, sidewalks are not an option because most roads where I live don't have them. Also, the bikes are made for smooth consistent surfaces and sidewalks are often to rough and uneven.

  13. It can be a safety hazard to cycle on the pavement. Over here cyclists can get arrested if they cycle on the pavement. The problem is solved if there's a cyclist lane.

Where I live you occasionally come across packs of cyclists who take up an entire lane of the road. They travel in packs so they can justify hogging a whole lane even when there's a bike lane. Why can't they just ride in a single-file line in the bike lane?

  17. In the UK, cyclists are not allowed to ride on pavements. When they ride where pedestrians go, it is very dangerous.

I really doubt an underwater god will be able to make roads on the land for bikes in a whole country.

  19. I'm saying legally it would be my fault as a driver if I hit him. Common sense/prefrontal cortex cognitive thinking, it would really be on him if he got hit.
