Dude, while some of it may seem far fetched, basically all the benefits listed are due to just having a better outlook on life and getting out of our negative phase of pmo by ourselves in a a lonely dark room.

Quitting pmo alone won't instantly give these benefits, a lot it comes from the lifestyle changes that come from quitting.

Totally agree. This needs to be said more often so that people have realistic expectations from NoFap.

The post never said that the results are instantaneous.

I find this thread to be very motivational. Something to look forward to.

No matter if it did or not, when you claim these benefits are linked to NoFap, it has to be said that only not jerking won't necessarily produce them. Sure, some guys can experience these just by leaving their penis alone. Others may experience them as a part of a bigger lifestyle changes. Others may not experience them at all. And that's fine, but all of us have to know that these are not guaranteed.

That said, it is motivational. It is great to feel worthy of the best girls or feel much more confident etc, it is great to look forward to it. But when you don't, you need to know better and not say "NF doesn't work" (as I've read some claims like that). That's all I'm saying.

    Watch out for logical fallacies:

    1) My facial hair is growing fast and I continue to fap. Therefore there is no problem with fapping.

    2) I want my facial hair to grow faster. I have stopped fapping, yet my facial hair continues to grow in slowly. Therefore the nofap program is a failure and does not work.

  11. A good amount of these actually have a biological cause - that is, as your brain rebalances itself after cutting out porn, dopamine levels return to normal etc., these are the things that start coming back. So, it's not that nofap gives you these things per se, rather that porn takes them away. Your Brain on Porn has a heap of great info about this.

I really want these benefits to be true but have such a hard time believing them. I think allot of the benefits we talk about here is mainly placebo and comes from just changing your life not the PMO itself.

You would get the same Benefits if you stopped looking at Violent movies 5 hours a day or stopped playing video games all night long.

Despite this I want to believe in them and see them very motivational. I stop being critical and rational and just focus on them to help me reach my goal.

  13. I think you're partly right. I think that when people successfully manage to quit something that has been holding them down for years, it's a very empowering experience that leads to a large boost in confidence, belief in oneself, etc. That being said though, for a lot of them there is actually a proven biological cause. Porn affects the dopamine levels in the brain, which in turn affects everything in the brain that runs on dopamine, and so can cause anxiety, depression, loss of motivation, concentration and memory issues, etc., which most guys don't even realise they have until they quit porn and their brain heals, their dopamine levels return to normal and all those things go away. This then flows on to many of the other effects listed above.

That's why stories like "I just thought I was shy, until I gave up porn and now suddenly I'm the life of the party!" actually have a scientific explanation. Use of porn had taken away their desire to socialise, but because they'd been using porn for their more than half their life they just assumed that's who they were.

Here is the video that's the best at explaining the science behind this, a VERY worthwhile watch:

No, there is a noticeable psycho-somatic change when you go off P, and this change serves to further reinforce your decision to quit. I've experienced most of what was listed. Reboot and you exchange a vicious circle for a virtuous one.

Old French < Latin virtūt- (stem of virtūs) maleness, worth, virtue, equivalent to vir man (see virile )

i have experienced numbers 1,3,definatly 4,6,8,24 and i also experienced another benefit that is not listed and that is no more social anxiety i have been dealing with it for 10 years now nothing has helped then i quit PMO for three weeks and it was completely gone I know that was not a placebo effect. I really wanna know for the people making jokes saying there are no benefits why are you doing NoFap if their is no benefits if there was no benefits I would go pmo right now.
