Back with an update

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by BravelyKegger, Mar 13, 2024.

  1. Hello friends! As you know, I left the community a week or so ago for my mental well-being. I decided to come back temporarily and give a life update regarding what I am currently experiencing in my reboot. First, I have not reset my counter or plan to. That cursed counter will keep you in a never-ending cycle of relapses and feelings of failure. I do not beat myself up when I accidentally see a picture of a naked woman or something sexual on Facebook or the internet. I block the image/page and move on with my life. I decided to quit vaping/chewing tobacco as well yesterday, so I am experiencing a lot of cravings. My energy levels over the past two days have been insane, and I feel pretty good overall. If my Christian walk has taught me anything, it's that we cannot live life legalistically. Humans do not do very well when strict rules are in place. Many people on this website have a very narrow and strict mindset, like everything has to go perfectly or you are doing it wrong. I have learned to live life one day and one challenge at a time. I shall come back for another update in a month or so. See you guys then!

All the best. I also want to quit vaping but am having quite a bit of a struggle with that, so I hope you succeed.

  3. I decided I had to quit before I get cancer or something else. I hate the fact that I need nicotine 24/7 or I begin acting like a cracked-out junkie, that's no way to live. I want to live life addiction-free and happy. Best of luck to you as well!

Good to hear your changes are bringing you to a better way of life.

I agree with your point on the counter. when I was going to a SA style weekly group they encouraged just to keep track of your first day of sobriety. That way you know how long it's been, but in a less progressive manner. You aren't counting days, but just focused on keeping your sobriety.

  5. It has been 7 days now for me. I have experienced a lot of urges but nothing to bad surprisingly. I can already tell you my ability to fall asleep has majorly improved since quitting. My energy levels have also been more stable and I am not tired as much.

Thats good news. I still seem to be drawn into it which sucks.

  7. I have been struggling a lot today with thoughts about relapsing and giving up. The desire for PMO is actually ways stronger then my desire for nicotine surprisingly. How can nicotine, a substance so addictive few manage to escape be less addictive then PMO? That just goes to show how overwhelmingly addictive it can be and why it's so hard to stop.
