been trying to kill this beast for a couple of years

    porn
    Reddit
    quora

didnt do twitter or x i have used but its all politics
Facebook i deleted over a decade ago

i used reddit and quora alot but realised reddit is insanity and quora is just a political hatefest

have you ever subscribed to Ask reddit omfg
if you think asking infuriating questions day in day out is not some kind of illness
does anyone think what a waste of our lives it is .

quora is even worse the questions are all clickbait crap

it seems to now be the new addiction gaslighting. gongas light others and be gaslight yourself.
both those sites are terrible but quora is definitely the worst complain about reddit mods but quora has next to no moderation .

racism is rampant its hard to believe nothing has actually been done about quora yet, i mean if you said that shit in the street it would be a criminal act. but quora they flock in there droves.

makes me realise i have not changed anything AT ALL only going down the internet rabbit hole

tbh reddit , quora and porn has added absolutely NOTHING to the quality of my life .

so before porn is completely eradicated from my browser reddit and quora has to go

because reddit and quora are just another trigger not only porn wise but daily annoyances wasre so much time getting angry at people who have absolutely no connection to my everyday life

so it takes 90 days to break a habit

    quora first
    then Reddit

these sites are toxic as fuck

    then porn

i think i will try some nee hobbies. reading, drawing, learn guitar, got to be more than going online and negatively effecting my mood .

I know how reddit is, used many years ago. Definitely a wise decision delete reddit, that place is filled with too much garbage and a small portion of really useful stuff. Quora i never had an account there however i already have read that same opinion about the toxic community.

Tbvh, reddit is partially a P site aswell, it's a website that allows normal social media stuff like videos or pics about people's lives or random scenarios and at the same time is allowed every kind of P stuff (it involves soft to grose, disturbing, disgusting and extremely hardcore content).

  3. I'd recommend using apps like "Stay Free" on your phone and "Cold Turkey" on your computer to block or limit time spent on sites you want to moderate. I've found self moderation is very hard because I easily lose track of time I spend on sites like YouTube or Reddit just doom scrolling and before I know it I just spent an hour+ of time doing nothing.

Some of these apps are paid. I probably spent about $25 on apps to help block my phone usage. Do your research, but I think for $25 which is a a couple Taco Bell orders, it's a wise investment for helping establish life-long habits.

    The apps are:

Here's what I did since I still find Reddit and YouTube useful for work and researching niche topics.

    StayFree:
    • Implemented tamper protection so any time I need to change a setting I have to type out this super long paragraph. This really has deterred me!
    • Blocked all "Porn" category sites
    • Blocked Facebook, Twitter, and all other "Social Networking" and "Entertainment" sites (note when you do this, it will block some sites you actually don't want to block so I had to go to each site individually and change the category to "uncategorized" because it was marked as Entertainment.)
    • Instagram - limit to 3 mins a day
    • Reddit - 10 mins a day
    • YouTube - 10 mins a day
    Cold Turkey:
    • Used default built-in "Distractions" block with no breaks and locked with random text - customized to remove Reddit and YouTube
    • Reddit - 20 mins a day
    • YouTube - 20 mins a day

    For both computer and phone:
Use the "Adult Filter" DNS settings from clear browsing: https://cleanbrowsing.org/filters/

This will literally block anything porn related and enforce safe search on Google so you are not accidentally triggered by NSFW search results.

The max I could potentially spend, if I utilized my entire allowance, is 1 hour with desktop + phone usage combined. It was really annoying getting this set up to my specifications at first, but it took about 2 weeks to see noticeable results. Nowadays I hardly ever use my phone for Reddit unless it's to look something up and I barely reach the 10 mins allowance. Today I caught myself mindlessly watching YouTube on my desktop computer and after 20 mins I got blocked. I didn't even realize what I was doing and when I was blocked I was like, "Oh dang, it's been 20 mins already? Crap...I should probably get to doing something productive."

Like I said, self moderating is really hard. It's super easy to lose track of time. Use technology to your advantage and don't let it take control of you!

    Best of luck.
