Im on day 20 of my reboot and just started my freshman year in college. I read somewhere that alcohol slows a reboot can I expect consuming alcohol 1-3 times weekly to significantly slow my reboot?

Alcohol and masturbation both might release the same chemicals that might make you feel good. I haven't done any research, so don't quote me on that. But either way, it is something that's for instant gratification with almost virtually no effort. Both can you leave you empty and depressed if you do it many times. So, it is quite reasonable to say that alcohol can definitely in fact slow down your reboot.

I second that. And its not quite good for erections. And its also risky to reboot and drink, especially if you spend much time on the computer...the dark alleys of porn are only a few clicks away after all.

  4. Agreed. I am on a 90 and have found alcohol has led to edging behavior.

On top of all that, I have nothing against alcohol consumption, I drink regularly but in the end, even if stopping PMO'ing helped me tremendously, I'm drinking still. More than I should.

The OP is a college student and most students party a lot. It's part of the game. But in my adult life, I know that I have to make an effort to further reduce my alcohol consumption.
It's just another sign that I seek pleasures into the right things...after drinking, I sometimes feel anxious...previously, I was watching porn to cure the anxiety with dopamine shots....now, no more porn, so the slight anxiety is another enemy of my well-being....

I want to become addicted to live a non-addictive lifestyle lol.

  6. agreed. the partying in college becomes self-medication in adult life - like PMO it actually isolates me (sitting at home drinking) i know it's a bad habit that's go to go.

But even in college, looking back, I wish i didn't drink as much and I wish I learned other ways to enjoy myself than just numbing myself....

It's not ideal. Several people will tell you a hangover or being buzzed increases the chances of a reset, thus ending a streak. That would be unfortunate if you were halfway or more to completing the challenge. Not the end of the world, but its avoidable.

I agree. We humans are stuck with an improper reward circuitry that is not adapted to the 21st century. Our lifestyle and workload, and also our "North-American" dream or house/kids/2 cars and a pool, make us stressed and prone to seek self-medication and thrills in quick, non-healthy remedies.

I'm trying to make room in my life (along with the wife) so we go to bed earlier to cuddle (bonding behaviors), which is know to reduce stress. Also, it gives the opportunity to read a little and help to fall asleep better in my case. Also, delta wave music is good for my sleep (put that on repeat all night). Meditation and/or massage will also be at the program.

Physical activity will be done in the morning. Better food.

But now I have to make the effort to go dry...
