Ad-blockers are only so helpful

  1. I'm at 28 days, and my fiancée is away for the weekend. Going strong on this streak, but over the last year I think the longest I've gone is a week so this is pretty different.

And so anyway I was booking a flight for a conference this evening. Can't even do this without getting bombarded with vacation ads and pics featuring extremely pretty and friendly looking women who aren't wearing very much.
Tempted to PMO with vaguely similar-looking women, but I must resist.

I'm using AdBlock extension on Chrome and can tweak it to block the pic, but it's more of a picture that goes along with a "Vacation Packages" link than a true ad. And so blocking the pic drastically alters how web pages are rendered as it can't tell what kind of pictures trigger me and which ones don't - it blocks all pictures.

Blocking the pics also doesn't sound like a long term solution. If I don't PMO because I don't see the ad today, that doesn't protect me from PMOing if I see the ad next year.

The best thing I can reason out to do is to not actively seek out pictures like this, and when exposed, resist PMO urges and move on quickly rather than stop and think about how much I miss PMO. As long as I don't relapse, I don't think I need to escalate my AdBlock. I guess it just makes me a bit anxious that I'm potentially putting myself at risk of relapse by maintaining the risk of exposure.

Anyone else have trouble with this? If there was a previous thread on this, I can't find it.
