A Funny Thing Happened

Two funny things, in fact.

I've struggled with losing many late hours to porn and sex chat sites, but apart from a recent relapse, it's been a lot better.

Here's a thing that happened, and it kind of fits in with my motto of, "if you live your life right, good things will come your way". There's a girl I fantasised about for a long time but from a distance. A couple of weeks ago, when I was going through a decent nofap spell, I got into a situation where I couldn't get my car out of my apartment parking space because I was blocked by someone else. To cut a long story short, guess whose it was? And I ended up having a brief conversation with her. Of course it was awkward at first - if she only knew! - but it made me realise when you know someone how much it changes everything - you see them as a real person with real emotions. How lucky for me she's a dreadful driver.

Also, while I was religious in my youth, I rejected it a number of years ago. Again through a strange set of circumstances, I found myself at a church supporting someone else. While I didn't have a miraculous "born again" moment, and I have real trouble accepting the veracity of a lot of the readings I heard, I could still see the people there as real decent human beings, and see the value they get from living their lives the way they do. And the preacher made a point of saying, "try going 24 hours without sinning once - bet you find you can't." While I might not agree with him on the concept of "sin", it was an interesting thought, and kind of parallels the struggles we talk about here. It's not about doing it as such, it's about realising it's wrong, and trying not to do it.

Just thought I'd share these small examples of being able to see my life start to turn around for the better through making an effort to improve, even if the road is rocky.
