Hello peeps, Starting a new streak of 90 days. I won't say more bc in the past I couldn't control myself and broke the commitment. Recently, I read a book 'The power of habit' by Charles duhig. Believe me it's a great book to understand how habits work , how they shape your life and how to break them. According to this book- every habit is loop consist of 3 phases i.e 1- cue 2- routine & 3- reward. If you look carefully you will find yourself in this loop. Porn addiction is same. You get a cue( it may be loneliness, boredom, internet, natuarl urges) then you have a routine( surfing porn and then mastarbation) and you get a reward( dopamine release which alter your mood). I think porn addiction works in the same way. Also this book also says that you can't change your habit but you can modify it. Like if you have a cue i.e loneliness, boredom, urges etc you can change your routine to get a reward. Instead of going to porn which is a routine you can do something else to get a reward. So the key is to break the routine. I will work in the same direction. I am working on to change my routine. Let' s see how I deal with it.
I like your suggestion on how to change a habit. I usually turn to porn, if my day hasn't gone well, I think now I'll try replacing it with an hour of my favourite PC game and see how that goes.
