Well... I have relapsed..or essentially walked away NOFAP convincing myself that there is no problem. This led to a binge and going right back to where I started from. My addictive personality took the reins as its been doing for most of my life.

Ive been relying on pornography to suppress feelings and put me in "the trance" for over 40 years. This is an extremely powerful addiction. Its changed my personality over those years, cost me a marriage and any possibility of a healthy relationship with a woman. I broke my brain.

Being such a powerful addiction can we really expect to do this "on our own"? Any of you have experience with 12 step or other recovery programs dealing with porn or sexual addiction?

FYI: I found this a powerful read (rather, listen on audible)

Dude, if you've been through 40 years of addiction what makes you think something will change that anytime soon? Do you want to waste another 10 years battling it on your own only to be in a similar place. Just do the 12 step group. If it doesn't work out you can just shrug your shoulders and move on. I've been in a 12 step program and if they are anything, they are anonymous. What you say there will not leave.
I think the best part of a 12 step is it will give you new perspective on addiction as you hear other people's stories and struggles.
As goes my favorite quote from game of thrones "When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives."

Whether you do a 12 Step program or another, not isolating is a big part of it. Even if people do not work the 12 Step program I'd say the meetings are worth checking out, sometimes you just need to get out of the isolation and there's just plenty of 12 Step meetings if nothing else. If people want to do it online there are different levels, you can lurk and listen in, maybe people don't want to share on video so just do audio. Even listening will provide some perspective, a reminder of how it impacts peoples lives if nothing else.

Thank you both for your input. I guess I expected to see more mention of traditional 12 step (SAA) on this forum but Ive seen surprisingly little. It led me to believe that most here on NOFAP are using the forums "in place of" a recovery program/12 step. I suppose thats possible..but with such a powerful addiction I have to wonder.
