    The void.
I want to refer on numerous posts here that underlies what I consider the most important aspect of the rebooting process: accepting the void inside ourselves and not trying it to fill with anything.
There is a great quote: "Youth always tries to fill the void, an old man learns to live with it". I think that the whole process of self improvement and rebooting is to come to terms with our own cravings to fill this void, which had eventually lead us to PMO.
Isn't it so easy that we come home after a shitty day, sit in front our computers and find instant relief, instant filling up the void.
Much harder is to focus on it, to learn to accept our emptiness as a constitutive part of who we are, as something we are destined to carry on and struggle with till the rest of our days.
I think, and maybe many will disagree, that we cannot have a real reboot nor self improvement without confronting our own incompleteness, our own void. It is only through an acceptance of this harsh fact that we can grow. If we constantly think that by renouncing PMO we shall find another way to fill our emptiness (girlfriends, sex etc) we are just replacing one addiction with another.
I think that the whole thing with NoFap is exactly to find a strength to confront our own emptiness and to learn to live with it.

    Yep. Addiction's a scary thing.

The void needs to remain empty...

I like this post a lot, @No More It.

    Thank you.

I appreciate the point you are making and I partially agree with it, but I think there is more to it. The void you feel during the rebooting process shows that there is room in your life to improve. When this void initially appeared in our lives, we chose the easiest and falsest way to fill it: by using immediate gratification. The failure of most of us at this stage is because we fall into the trap where we see addiction as a necessary entity to fill that void. Instead it is the other way around. The void came before the addiction and we chose the wrong method to fill it. I feel the way forward is to fill that void with values, meaning and action to improve ourselves as people. One step further is not to do this for the fear of addiction coming back, as the aim of rebooting should be to improve ourselves, not solely to remove addiction from our lives.

    Just my thoughts and beliefs.

This is a great discussion. I can be a bit hyperactive and overbusy--trying to "do useful things" to fill that void. I really think there is a religious biblical side to this void. I am a Believer and a doubter at the same time, and no more than a student of Christianity so not here to proselytize.

I know we live in an imperfect world where all of our hearts have a void. We try to fill it with many things--drugs, porn, sex, fitness, success, money, religion. I think there is a higher spiritual power that can help us fill that void. There are many names for that spiritual power, but I think they are the same thing and this is how we may be able to fill the void.

  5. The void is infinite.

    What, therefore, could fill it?

How can I, a finite creature, have an infinite void?

Is there a part of me that is infinite?

    Do I have a soul?

Questions I've been having in my own head lately.

My laziness is infinite, that's for sure.

  7. I think that the void can be filled two ways:
    Bad
    Porn, drugs, fapping, gaming, procrastinating.

    Good
Meaningful relationships, social life, exercise, hobbies, study ect.

Sometimes a break is good but I think this is misleading, the void hurts because we are not happy with the lack of the good way that is there, it takes effort.

Our persistence has the ability to bring consistent good and healthy habits. It's a long journey. We can not expect these voids to be filled instantly. While getting out of this PMO shit, there will be a void which will be significant. As we choose not to ignore it by seeking sexual pleasures, it's gonna be there right in front of us.This is where we need to observe the emptiness and room of improvement in our lives.Without a second thought, it's going to be difficult to fill the void but as I again emphasize that persistence can do wonders. We need not to revert back this time and keep trying. You never fail if you really want something and work for it.
The results aren't going to just magically appear one day.We will improve gradually and will continue to get better and get rid of this shit one day. We're gonna starve that fk** monster to death. No matter how many traps it presents us with, we will beat it a thousand times and more till it dies and no longer is a part of us.
