Sure, they activate the brain in a very similar way, that's why I am staying away from them, cause I want to speed up my reboot. But the way I have done it so far is not count them as porn, but rather I have set up a separate counter for psubs. So if I relapse to porn I reset my no PMO counter, and if I relapse to psubs I reset my no psub counter, but not my no PMO counter. But even though I don't count them as porn they are still obviously bad for the reboot just the same nonetheless, cause, like you said, they activate the same patterns. But the reason I decided to not count them as porn is because there is a clearly defined dictionary definition of porn, but what is and isn't a psub is largely subjective.

I mean if I walk down the street and see a woman wearing a cute summer dress, and look at, is that a psub? Some would say no, cause it's not artificial pixels, and you are appreciating the beauty of real person, which is natural expression of your sexuality. But others would say it is, cause you are engaging in a voyeuristic behavior by the very act of looking. Or, if I turn on the news website and I see a news anchor reporting on the weather, and it's a Muslim woman who is dressed super modestly, with a hijab, but I find her eyes super cute, and I keep looking at her because of it, is that a psub? Some would say yes, cause you are being aroused by the pixels. Others would say no, cause the eyes are not a sexual body part the same way a butt is. That's why I decided to have a separate counter for the psubs, cause they are just so subjective. But it sounds to me that you equate psubs to porn. No?

I've read the rules of The Duels of NoFap challenge and it does not mention anything about psubs, it just says, "no PMO"—"P" in "PMO" stands for porn, not psubs. The same goes for the Saiyan challenge—doesn't say anything about psubs, just no PMO. And other challenges I am in also; unless it states in the rules of the OP specifically about psubs then I assume it's just no PMO. That's why I reset my streak in this challenge (and one other which I do), cause it mentions psubs specifically, but not in the Saiyan challenge and other no PMO challenges I'm a part of, cause they say only no PMO and does not say anything also about no psubs.

Sorry for ranting out lol, but you made me confused. I might be just a stickler for the rules (maybe I should have been a lawyer lol) or I might be somewhere on the spectrum (undiagnosed, but I've been suspicious for a while) cause not having clearly defined rules bother me and confuses me.

But anyways, if you want to add that extra rule to our duel to make things even more harder for us then I'm all for it. It will just be so much more satisfying to beat you then!

I will have to politely disagree on this one brother, you are confusing a few things. I will try my best to break it down, I hope I am clear in my explanation.

Per nofap forums, the definition of a porn sub is as follows :

• PSUB: Also known as P-SUBs, or porn substitutes, are considered undesirable replacements to using pornography. Examples might include excessive use of dating websites, looking at clothed images of models, or even cruising social media websites for pictures. The intention is what matters the most. Using these things are great in many contexts, but many of our users prefer to avoid the “pornification” of seemingly non-pornographic material.

Perhaps a p-sub can be subjective when it comes in relation to the material, but the mediums of p-sub are always the same. Meaning they are found on the internet or TV shows that are chosen for the sole purpose of seeing more "provocative" material.

Your description of seeing a woman on the street and considering her attractive is just basic biology, you are not sitting at home searching provocative imagery online in response to a stressor/boredom etc. You are merely walking the streets and acknowledging the beauty of the woman you see. There is nothing wrong with that, nor is that a p-sub. For your other example, seeing and admiring the beauty of a woman's eye is still not a p-sub. If you escalate to fantasizing about her sexually, you are merely fantasizing. Now, if you return every day and often and go out of your way to find images of the same woman, in response to a trigger (stress boredom etc) for the purposes of fantasizing about her and distracting yourself from your negatively perceived emotion, given its on the internet, yes you are utilizing a p-sub at this point.

I do not equate p-subs to porn, its a lesser version. But I know that if I intentionally open a p-sub in response to an emotional trigger, I am on the same neuropathway that I would be with porn. It's about keeping myself honest.

As on the Lord of the Rings Challenge, I'm also one of the moderators on the Duels of Nofap. I believe its intended on there and all the other challenges, but I will tag the heads of each to see. Nothing to apologies for brother.

Ok, I see what you're saying, I think. But let my clarify though. The way I understand you is, it's a reset for a psub counter if you intentionally seek it out? Due to the same triggers that you would seek porn out? But if you stumble on it by an accident then it's not a reset for a psub counter? No matter if it takes you a while to turn it off, as long as you did not turn it on intentionally in the first place then it's not technically a reset? Did I got you right?

 

just found out about imaginal retraining, which is supposed to be the new shit against addiction in clinical research. I need to read more into this but from what I've understood we have to stop thinking about porn/sex to avoid the chaser effect.
(which is a long known technique not only for NoFap but also for overcoming other addictions)
