Since I cannot install DNS blocker on the router, I put it on my computer. The issue here is that if you're the admin, you can just change the DNS. I put the cleanbrowsing DNS to the family setting which blocks porn, proxies, VPNs, reddit and forces youtube and web searches to safe mode. I tested it and tried to bypass it. It works. It even blocks extension VPNs on browsers and you can't use a microsoft store app browser or VPNs, it also blocks everything there.

I created a new windows account and put this account to have access, except full control, so without the admin password, you can't install, uninstall, change the configuration, including the DNS. I'm now downloading my favorite software, some games, then I will change the admin password and future.me in 6 months.

It is inconvenient as I won't be able to install, uninstall or change any configuration without the admin password, but it is a price to pay and is basically just an internet computer with some software in it. You can still copy, paste and delete files though.

This is a desktop computer too so I can’t even take it anywhere.

It is almost impossible to bypass as you can't install or uninstall anything. You can't change the configuration, everything is blocked in all browsers and search engines. Youtube is forced to restricted and you can't even read comments, which I don't care.

It may work for me as the main thing I do on my computer is using the internet. I don’t think you can even revert to a previous time or restart the computer factory settings as it all requires admin access. You can still copy, paste and delete files though.

I also did the same on my phone where I installed cleanbrowsing, put it on always on and installed an app blocker to prevent uninstall. Same, a price to pay, won't be able to install or uninstall, change settings.

Some downside to this method but is the best I can come up with for now. My desire to quit this is bigger than me not being to install, uninstall or make configuration changes.

You can always bypass. But that’s a good start !

How? I don't see how it could be bypassed when you don't have admin access. What you mean is maybe you find sites that are not pornographic but may contain it or not everything is filtered by the DNS.

in fact, DNS at the router is more likely to be bypassed as you still have full control of your computer and can just download a torrent client or find a way to use a VPN, install other software, or just change the DNS on your computer to google DNS or whatever.

The whole point is to reduce it as much as possible. You could go to a friends computer, download porn and put it here, but that's not the point.

My goal is to get some momentum and victory going hopefully 6 months.

i won’t tell you how but the whole dns thing is really easy to bypass. But if you don’t know then that’s a good thing.

I'm doing the same thing already the third time, but as it was said, you can always bypass, so I don't know if it's worth it or not.

Indeed it's hard. at least for me. It's not the first time but I feel like it is. Yeah, you can always bypass, and I've learned how to do it, but well. I even installed a registry cleaner and always check registry software to limit all the not wanted content. Well, we'll see how it will work this time because the last two times I've tried I failed. Even though I try very hard, it's still easy to get it when you really want it, so that's very tempting for me. Wish me luck. This time I'm more determined.
