By bipolar I mean every hour you swinging back and forth from feeling euphoric and like you're the king of the world to feeling like absolute garbage with no hope for the future. This always happens to me for a day or two after breaking the streak. I know that drugs can exacerbate the symptoms of bipolar, and PMO is the worst of them all.
It messes you up. The withdrawal symptoms makes me psychotic. I am diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder. I feel better on my long streaks than when im binging all the time.
No, I would say that mood swings are common withdrawal symptoms from overcoming porn addiction. But this can also apply to other addictions and breaking bad habits.
I would describe the withdrawals as bipolar. When i was pmoing daily i was zoned out and had no feelings at all. When i was abstaining i would get severe mood swings.
Happens to me without porn but watching any form of porn defenitely trigger this. However in my case personally there is always aggression related to it. watching woman in lingerie or anything less worse than full blown porn doesn't elicit the same response. At least less worse the porn. Anything that triggers dopamine response creates attachment, attachments to the ego create suffering. I think it's not so much the porn itself but the attachment we have to it.
No, bipolar is actually a great term to describe it. Bipolar comes in different shapes and sizes, its not just hardcore stuff requring hospitalization. The mood swings fit bipolar perfectly.
Exactly, Bipolar is a lifelong condition. Mood swings are one of the symptoms and characteristics of a person with the condition, but they're more extreme. There's an awful lot more to people with Bipolar, and no person with it are the same as another on who has the condition. Just like no person is the same as someone who doesn't have it. Just because you're having mood swings doesn't necessarily mean you're bipolar. It's an assumption you've made here, OP. That's likely to be from the withdrawal symptoms from an addiction. It's likely to be changes in the brain, with the brain re-wiring during the reboot and recovery from any addiction in general - porn is no different really. Now, this clip from Trainspotting demonstrates Mark Renton's (Ewan McGregor) withdrawal symptoms from giving up heroin. If you watch this clip, does this mean that he has bipolar disorder? Mood swings and being irritable are common symptoms from people breaking bad habits or addictions. That comes with the territory of giving up PMO. You know what they say, bad habits DIE HARD!!
