Sadly enough John 3:16 over simplified to mean moving your mouth to the words and you are saved, then apply the 'once saved always saved' and everyone is good for life... IF THAT WERE THE CASE, then why is it Jesus said the road to heaven is NARROW AND FEW will find it. So obviously John 3:16 doesn't mean to just confess... believing in your HEART... the word HEART throughout the ENTIRE Bible meant the MIND as we know it today.. In Bible times they thought the HEART was where THOUGHT and Intellect came from, not the Brain.

So to BELIEVE in your MIND in John 3:16 means to have knowledge of what you are believing, understanding of what it means (FOLLOW ME, SAYS JESUS) and to know that the Resurrection was in fact the fulfillment of the coming Jewish Messiah, the "Lamb that was SLAUGHTERED" for us ... Rev 5:6
