Great Dhamma talk by Ajahn Siripanyo on the deluded experience of sense pleasure. A sutta says that lepers would sometimes put their limbs into a fire since the pain of the burning was experienced as a relief from the chronic agony they existed in at all other times. Sensual pleasure can be like this. Actually it's not in itself a pleasant experience when viewed correctly, but it's sought as a distraction.
Nekkhamma, Kevoya and kammaSati like this.
