It doesn't effect dopamine process on healing? I feel like it does :/ I drink to not feel depressed all the time occasionally it's not a need of mines tho...
That's a pretty good sign of a problem. People who drink socially typically aren't doing it to numb pain or depression ... but almost 100% of alcoholics are drinking for that purpose. I'm not saying that to judge you. But if you're drinking to avoid or numb painful feelings, that's something you should definitely keep a close watch on, because those are the kinds of underpinnings that take an otherwise normal behavior and make it compulsive/addictive.
I never drink or smoke cuz I always think it's bad for health but never knew the effects of PMO is much worse. I think you should stop drinking and if you do smoke please stop it too cuz it just isn't healthy.
So far taking a break from drinking while trying to do a 90 day Hard Mode has made this much easier. I just hit 3 weeks clean and that is something I have never done. For me drinking a few in the evening several nights a week would often cause me to slip because it is easier to MO or PMO when your a little buzzed or drunk.
I'm on summer break, but I did this 3-4 times every single weekend, with cocaine. Great time, but obviously detrimental to your health. But, then again, a great time.
Drinking spirits heavily and smoking will cause problems. They sure did for me. Once I cut back on drinking straight spirits and had beer more often (not too much) and cut out the smoking I noticed improved health on all fronts. The smoking however will indeed constrict blood vessels ultimately affecting blood flow to important areas so if you want to give yourself the best chance at recovery try and eliminate smoking entirely.
You can't cure depression by drinking alcohol or smoking. i have tried myself that path. It takes you to a dead end. They make you feel worse after and they are not good for your health. Make your life with purpose. Improve yourself so you don't feel the need to escape from your reality and you will embark your route of recovery much stronger and motivated Keep it up
As for drinking, beer and wine are amazing beverages with a rich history, and they're good for you in moderation, there's nothing wrong with having a beer while out with friends or eating, while stuff like vodka or whiskey are something that's a lot easier to drink too much of, therefore I almost always avoid them, I only have a taste of them when with friends when they're really good, not cheap shit fruit vodka. Smoking tobacco, on the other hand, is just extremely stupid. If you really have to, maybe cigars are the best option, but really, it's not worth it.
